Specifications for Gel and Blot Imaging System

Hardware/physical requirements:

· Integrated gel and blot imaging system

· Touchscreen interface

· USB port

· Imaging area at least 17 cm x 22 cm

· Benchtop footprint less than 40 cm x 70 cm

· Automatic sample rotation (mechanical rotation of sample stage)

· LED lights in transilluminators (instead of UV lights)

· Storage requirements: >200 GB Image acquisition requirements:

· High resolution CCD camera, > 9.0 megapixel

· Autoexposure

· Autofocus

· Autozoom, up to 8x zoom Imaging application requirements:

· Protein gels (colorimetric and fluorescence signals)

· Nucleic acid gels (ethidium bromide and fluorescent stain signals)

· Colorimetric western blots

· Chemiluminescence western blots (horseradish peroxidase and alkaline phosphatase substrates)

· Fluorescent western blots (fluorescence from visible and near-infrared fluorophores)

· Multiplex fluorescence capability

· Custom mode to image with multiple signals
