About this file

This document outlines requirements for a 3.5 mm Microwave Airline Calibration Kit solicitation. The National Institute of Standards and Technology requires one 3.5 mm Microwave Airline Calibration Kit containing specified female to male airline standards ranging in length from 3.94 to 15 cm, with dimensional measurements and a torque wrench. The kit must meet IEEE specifications for 3.5 mm connectors and include gold-coated surfaces. Delivery is required to NIST in Boulder, Colorado by the specified date. The related pre-solicitation, numbered NB6720102302124, is being conducted by the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology to procure this 3.5 mm Microwave Airline Calibration Kit.

Requirements / Specification Document

TITLE: 3.5 mm Microwave Airline Calibration Kit

Requesting Laboratory / Division / Group:

Communications Technology Laboratory Radio Frequency Technology Division Guided Wave Electromagnetics Group (672.01)

General Statement of Need:

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), CTL/RFT, in Boulder, CO has a requirement to produce broadband electrical calibration artifacts as part of its calibration service for scattering parameter traceability up to 33 GHz. Precision manufactured calibration artifacts are required to maintain accurate traceable calibrations for internal and external customers.

Development in coaxial connector technology has been made allowing production of higher precision airline calibration artifacts in the 3.5 mm connector type. To calibrate the scattering parameters of passive microwave electronics to 33 GHz, a metrology grade 3.5 mm airline kit is required.
