TABLE OF CONTENTS

General Requirements

DRAWINGS

Drawings Sheet Number from C01 – C02. A separate document is included with this solicitation.

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.10 SECTION INCLUDES

Furnish a galvanized structural steel framed boardwalk with non-penetrating adjustable legs and metal decking, including all fittings, accessories, and fasteners in accordance with the plans. New railings shall be provided as outlined in the drawings.

A. Provide all the materials and feature and hardware for a new boardwalk of 230 L.F. Include, decking, structural framing, structural columns, and base plates.

B. Provide shop drawings, Wickcraft, or an approved “or equal” product, galvanized structural steel framed boardwalk with non-penetrating adjustable legs and base plates, and Metal Decking, including all fittings, accessories, and fasteners following the plans. Anchor the baseplates into the ground with standard Wickcraft connectors or with the approved “or equal” product as per manufacturer specifications.

C. Deck material shall be a – Metal Decking - The decking shall a prefabricated Wickcraft decking or approved equal product.

D. The new boardwalk shall be approximately 6 feet wide and approximately 230 feet long. The maximum longitudinal slope cannot exceed 5 percent, and the cross-section slope must not exceed 2 percent. Every time a slope change occurs, a landing area of 5 feet long is required.

E. The decking shall meet all the requirements of the Architectural Barrier Act and the latest International Building Code.

F. Handrails must be included in the construction using– Pressure-treated Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) #1 prime grade Located on Top and bottom as per detail E on page C06 of the design drawings. Use 3/16” diam cable railing (8) cable runs.

G. The manufacturer must include the shop drawings for the platform, which must comply with Building Code requirements and the Architectural Barriers Act.

H. The contractor must provide complete shop drawings and ensure they meet the International and State Codes.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data:

a. Manufacturer’s material data sheets

b. Installation process and requirements

c. Shop drawings for all components of the steel frame walkway and deck system

d. Structural calculation for key boardwalk elements

B. Certificate of steel origin (United States)

PART 2- PRODUCTS – Based off of Wickcraft Company connecting system

2.01 MATERIALS SPECIFICATIONS

This is a brand name, or an “or equal” product will suffice. If providing an “or equal” product, must supply product specifications with quote.

A. All frames must meet or exceed International Building Code requirements of 100psf load capacity.

B. Galvanized structural steel frame sections constructed from ASTM A500 Structural Steel.

C. Frame connections to be fabricated from ¼” A36 Structural Steel.

D. Legs and leg-sleeves to be fabricated from ASTM A500 Structural Steel pipe.

E. Entire post-fabrication frame assembly to be hot dipped galvanized (HDG) with a minimum of 3.9 mill thickness of zinc-based galvanizing.

F. All post-galvanized frame assemblies must be hand rasped and free of any sharp edges without compromising the galvanized integrity.

G. All decking must meet or exceed International Building Code requirements of 100psf load capacity.

3/8 set bolt and 2-1/4 self-tapping screws per leg.

I. All boardwalk surfaces are to be ADA compliant.

J. All hardware, including deck screws, to be stainless steel.

L. All boardwalk surfaces are to follow Americans with Disabilities Accessibility Guidelines.

2.02 WARRANTY

A. Workmanship of the frames is warrantied against defect for the life of the boardwalk. During this period, if the product is covered by the warranty and fails under normal use, manufacturer will repair or replace at original owners’ discretion. The decking and other non-frame elements of the boardwalk are excluded. “Lifetime” is defined as the lifetime of the product in use.

B. Material warranty of all non-boardwalk frame material is that of the original manufacturer. Non-boardwalk material includes but is not limited to decks, handrail, curb rail, benches, or other fixtures.

PART 3 – TRAIL FOOTPRINT

3.00 TRAIL LAYOUT

A. Supplier will be responsible for new boardwalk to follow the footprint and detail drawings provided on sheets C01-C02.

B. Follow-up post installation is required to obtain manufacturer’s certification.

4.0 DELIVERY:

A. All boardwalk materials and parts will be delivered to 245 E 1500 North Furnessville Road, 46304 Westchester, Indiana.

B. Deliver all the boardwalk materials and hardware 60 days after contract award. Contact Agustin Perez Maldonado two weeks before delivery. 219-395-8534.
