UV Sterilizer for On-grow, Brood 1, and Brood 2
Specifications The USDA Agricultural Research Service requires systems for UV disinfection of water within existing Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). Systems and components must be compatible with existing infrastructure and meet all the minimum specifications provided below. Unit and components must be shipped to the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center in Franklin, ME. The government will install the units in the existing systems.
Following are the specifications for units listed under line item 1 (see below) on Schedule of line Items (UV sterilizers):
1. Must mount to 16 inch PVC pipe via flanges in a horizontal pipe;
2. Unit housing must not exceed a total length of 32”;
3. Unit is constructed from corrosion resistant material suitable for sea water or freshwater use;
4. The unit must not require more than 12 inches of straight run pipe before and after the unit once installed;
5. The unit will be mounted near a vertical concrete wall. The space available is 11 inches from the wall to the center of the pipe the unit will be installed in;
6. There is a PVC pipe located 3 inches above the pipe where the unit will be installed. The unit must fit within this space and must not damage the pipe above, due to excess heat. Assume maximum water temperature in the system of 20℃;
7. Control panel and all other enclosures, except for the main unit, must be NEMA 4X ratings;
8. Control panel will contain an integrated air conditioned cooling unit for the enclosure;
9. Control panel will contain visual indicators that each bulb is functioning;
10. Control panel will contain an operating hour meter or bulb hour meter for determining when bulbs should be replaced;
11. Unit will operate on 460V 3 Phase standard U.S. power;
12. Cord harness lengths must be at least 20 feet in length from the bulbs to the control panel;
13. The unit should achieve a minimum of 100 mJ/cm2 at a flow of 4,500 liters per minute (LPM) at the end of the bulbs life assuming a UV transmission of 80% in the water;
14. The unit should be capable of operating at flow rates between 3,000-5,000 LPM;
15. Unit will include an automatic high temperature shutoff switch to prevent over heating of the containment vessel;
16. Unit will include UV Transmittance sensors to enable automatic lamp dimming capable of maintaining a fixed UV dose provided with external flow meter (line item 2) input;
17. Manual wiper or no wiper assembly, automatic wipers will not be considered;
18. Operating and installation instructions including maintenance schedule, specifications and part numbers for all replaceable parts including but not limited to: bulbs, quartz sleeves, ballasts, O-rings, and compression fittings;
Following are the specifications for units listed under line item 2 (see below) on Schedule of Line Items (flow meter):
19. Compatible with the control panel for UV sterilizer in line item 1;
20. Capable of mounting in/on 16” PVC pipe with zero straight run piping requirements before or after the unit;
21. Coating or material suitable for full strength salt water or freshwater;
22. Unit will be mounted in a cool high humidity area and must be NEMA 4X
23. Includes all mounting hardware required for 16” PVC pipe;
24. Includes all connection hardware required for connecting to the control panel for the UV sterilizer in line item 1, assuming the control panel is mounted up to 25 feet from the flow meter. The connection must be a physical connection not a remote connection via Bluetooth, wireless, or similar connection.
25. Flow meter must also have an additional 4-20 amp port for connecting to a master control/monitoring/alarm system.
26. Operating and installation instructions including maintenance schedule, specifications, and part numbers for all replaceable parts. Must include specific instructions for connecting the flow meter to the UV control panel.
Schedule of Line Items:
Line Item 01 – Three (3) units that meet all the design criteria laid out in the specifications for line item 1.
Line Item 02 – Three (3) flow meters that meets the criteria laid out in the specifications for line item 2.
Line Item 03 – One (1) FOB Destination shipping of all Items in line item 1 and 2 to the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center (address below). Internal delivery is not required. No loading dock available, but a forklift is available for unloading directly from trucks.
Criteria for technical acceptability:
