About this file

This document outlines specifications for a vaporized hydrogen peroxide decontamination unit. The Biosafety Officer at the US National Poultry Research Center requires a portable, remotely operated vaporized hydrogen peroxide decontamination machine capable of decontaminating spaces up to 8,000 cubic feet. The unit must be physically movable within the room being decontaminated, integrate with an existing Steris Victory VHP decontamination machine, and allow for non-port connections and room-level decontamination. Additionally, the machine should be able to measure and log temperature, relative humidity, and hydrogen peroxide concentrations during decontamination cycles to ensure efficiency and reduce condensation. An integrated aeration function is also needed to expedite the decontamination process and facilitate research turnaround. These specifications relate to the pre-solicitation federal contract opportunity for a Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide Victory Biodecontamination Unit issued by the US Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery.

Text version

The Biosafety Officer at US National Poultry Research Center (USNPRC) has the need to purchase a vaporized hydrogen peroxide decontamination unit to be utilized in laboratory and animal room/building decontaminations. These decontaminations are necessary for research integrity and personnel safety after and between when experiments are conducted. The required specifications for the vaporized hydrogen peroxide decontamination machine are that it is portable and able to be operated remotely, have the ability to be physically moved within the room which is being decontaminated and to be networked into an existing Steris Victory VHP decontamination machine. The machine must have the ability to be placed into a room and provide room-level decontamination with non-port connections. The vaporized hydrogen peroxide machine must be able to decontaminate small spaces as well as larger spaces that approach 8,000 cubic feet utilizing one machine. The machine must be able to measure temperature, relative humidity and hydrogen peroxide concentrations, as well as logging these parameters during the decontamination cycle. This ensures the process is as efficient as possible and reduces condensation which negatively affects the efficacy of the vaporized hydrogen peroxide decontamination process. An aeration function that is included or integrated within this decontamination unit is critical in reducing decontamination cycle downtime to expedite the decontamination process to facilitate research.
