Description of equipment: The NSAR Unit requires a grain analyzer The instrument must adhere to the following: “U.S. Grain Standards Act to ‘certify the quality of grain as accurately as practical’ as well as provide accurate information on storability, economic value, and product yield. (7 U.S.C. Sec. 74(b)(2) and (b)(3) (C) and (E)).”
The following characteristics are needed:
● A spectrophotometer utilizing a scanning monochromator with a range of wavelengths between 570 and 1100nm
● A touchscreen display to reduce the influence of dust and debris on the internal components
● Capabilities of connecting to a computer directly, a flash drive, or cloud-based storage
● A certified test-weight apparatus
● Pre-load calibrations for wheat, peas, canola, barley, and pulses
● The system being offered must be approved for whole grain analysis by GIPSA and NTEP
