Specifications for Biomark PIT tags and PIT Tag Readers with Software – Brand Name or Equal

Delivery: USDA-ARS-National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center (NCWMAC) 25 Salmon Farm Rd Franklin, ME 04634

Background and objectives: The USDA ARS National Cold-Water Marine Aquaculture Center (Franklin, ME) is an Atlantic salmon breeding program. This program is a family-based breeding program that utilizes the deployment of thousands of smolt sized salmon from various family crosses to growers in the Northeast area.

Each fish is individually tagged with a Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag, a type of radio frequency identification device (RFID), so their growth (weight and length) and survival can be monitored.

Our lab currently uses Biomark PIT tags, Biomark PIT Tag readers/antennas and Biomark software. We are requesting four subscriptions to the software, four tag readers, additional backup hardware for the pit tag readers (antenna, comm cable, charger), 11,500 PIT Tags, and two measuring boards. The lab would like a larger measuring board (100cm) that would be used for the harvest evaluation research study and a smaller board (50cm) that would be used for sea lice and disease research studies.
