A. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:
1. INSPECT THE PRESERVATION AND UNIT PACK IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1E.
2. INSPECT THE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH A-A-52462, INCLUDING THE FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTION
REQUIREMENT.
B. FILL TRANSMISSION TO OPERATIONAL LEVEL. ROTATE MECHANISM TO ENSURE 100% COVERAGE OF PRESERVATIVE ON INTERNAL SURFACES. REMOVE DRAIN PLUG AND DRAIN EXCESS PRESERVATIVE.
REPLACE DRAIN PLUG SECURELY.
(NOTE: IF TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY RUN BY THE MANUFACTURER AND ALL INTERIOR
SURFACES HAVE BEEN COATED WITH THEIR APPROVED LUBRICANT, NO ADDITIONAL INTERNAL
PRESERVATION IS REQUIRED.
C. APPLY TO UNPAINTED, UNPLATED FERROUS SURFACES.
D. PLACE 56 UNIT OF DESICCANT INTO DESICCANT BASKET AND CLOSE DESICCANT PORT COVER.
E. PACKED REUSABLE CONTAINER SHALL BE MONITORED UNTIL THE INTERNAL RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVEL
STABILIZED RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS ACHIEVED.
NOTE: THIS PROCESS IS BEST CONDUCTED INA A SHADED AREA. STABILIZATION OF RELATIVE HUMIDITY
LEVEL TYPICALLY REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS TO ACHIEVE.
F. THE UNIT CONTAINER IS THE SHIPPING CONTAINER.
G. SPECIAL MARKING SHALL BE APPLIED AS FOLLOWS:
TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY SERIAL NUMBER SHALL BE STENCILED IN THE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH
MIL-STD-129.
