SPECIFICATION

1. SCOPE

1.1. Composite Ladder structures to be used in lieu of wooden ladder structures.

2. APLLICABLE DOCUMENTS

2.1. Issues of Publications - The following documents of the issue date in effect on the date of request for proposal form a part of this specification to the extent applicable, or as specified herein. Within the specification, they shall be referred to by their basic designation only.

2.1.1. Government

2.1.1.1. OSHA 1910.27 for all safety regulations

2.1.1.1.1. Also must meet OSHA Type 1A minimum rating.

2.2. Order of precedence - In the event of conflict between the text of this specification and that of the references cited above, the text of this specification shall take precedence.

Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws or regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.

3. REQUIREMENTS

3.1. Composite Ladder

3.1.1. Series 625 Extren Fiberglass Material or equivalent.

3.1.2. 18” x 16’

3.1.2.1. Maximum of 18” overall width

3.1.2.2. Rung width 14”

3.1.3. 12” x 16’

3.1.3.1. Maximum of 12” overall width

3.1.3.2. Rung width 8”

3.1.4. Composite Structure

3.1.5. Fire Retardant

3.1.6. UV Resistant

3.1.7. Corrosion Resistant

3.1.8. 1-1/4” Bar Grit Coated or Fluted Rungs designed for heavy duty usage in an industrial work area and also slip resistant. Grit Coating is to be medium grade grit and a sample must be sent to Code 230.3 of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for final approval.

3.1.9. Low electrical conductivity

3.1.10. Ability to cut ladder and use each section as (2) different shorter ladders as needed for special applications without losing structural integrity.

3.1.11. Four (4) end caps per ladder if ladder rails are hollow. The primary purpose of these caps is should the ladders be cut to shorter lengths by the production shop, the production shop can then fasten the cap to the cut top sections to eliminate / mitigate any sharp edges.

3.1.12. Four (4) feet per ladder. Feet shall be pivoting with a rubberized coating.

Two (2) will be installed on the full ladder and two (2) will be able to be installed on the second section if the ladder is cut into (2) ladders.

3.1.13. Glow-in-the-dark stripe on each side of ladder, running from top to bottom

3.1.14. The color of the ladder can NOT be yellow.

3.1.15. The ladders are portable ladders and need to be capable of being used free standing up to a 75 degree angle.

4. DELIVERY / RETURN

4.1. Delivery - The Composite Ladder shall be fully-assembled, ready-to-use, and in a first-class-operating condition.

5. GENERAL

5.1. Response to Request - As part of the response to this request, descriptive literature shall be furnished in sufficient detail to show that the proposed design will meet these specifications. Supporting information shall be organized and packaged by unit. If supporting information includes multiple models the vendor shall clearly state model number of proposed unit and redact all information not applicable to proposed unit.
