STATEMENT OF WORK

REPAIR AND RECONDITION HIGH TEMPERATURE HOT WATER DISTRIBUTION PUMP

1. SUMMARY OF WORK:

The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment and materials to repair and recondition, the 12” End-Suction Centrifugal Type pump used on the distribution system of high temperature, high pressure hot water. It is manufactured by Goulds Pumps.

2. Materials:

2.1 The contractor shall provide all materials to repair pump. The pump has the following characteristics:

1.2.1 Manufacturer: Goulds Pumps

1.2.2 Model: 3700 L

1.2.3 Size: 6x8-16B/N

1.2.4 Type: End-Suction Centrifugal

1.2.5 Number of Stages: 1

1.2.6 Serial Number: 271B970-2

3. Execution:

3.1 The Contractor shall recondition pump, install new seal, and replace any parts required to get pump back to proper operating condition. Shipping costs back to Malmstrom AFB will be included in the price quote.

4. Work Scope:

4.1 Qualification:

4.1.1 Work shall be performed by an ITT Goulds Pumps IPD (Industrial Pump Division) certified agent of industrial products for pumps, parts and repair for the industrial market.

4.2 Repair:

4.2.1 Pump Case:

4.2.1.1 Weld Repair/Build-up of fits (weld pads, etc.) or casing flaws if required

4.2.1.2 Machine fits if required to achieve minimum manufacturer recommended clearances

4.2.1.3 Skim-cut & Spiral-cut flange face surfaces, suction & discharge

4.2.1.4 Verify proper gasket “crush” dimensions

4.2.1.5 Clean and de-burr all sharp edges

4.2.1.6 Prep for final assembly

4.2.2 Pump Cover:

4.2.2.1 Weld Repair/Build-up of fits (weld pads, etc.) or casing flaws if required 4.2.2.2 Machine faces/fits as required to achieve proper clearances and geometric alignments

4.2.2.3 Skim-cut gasket surface/s

4.2.2.4 Spiral-cut gasket surface/s

4.2.2.5 Verify proper gasket “crush” dimensions

4.2.2.6 Eliminate cooling jacket plate cover

4.2.2.7 Clean and de-burr all sharp edges

4.2.2.8 Prep for final assembly

4.2.3 Case & Cover Wear Rings and Throat Bushing:

4.2.3.1 Manufacture new PFA/Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composite case & cover wear rings and throat bushing

4.2.3.2 Parts to be designed and manufactured per material manufacturer recommendations and industry experience

4.2.3.3 Inspection of finished parts and work performed.

4.2.4 Shaft:

4.2.4.1 Replace old shaft with new Grade 410 SS (UNS S41000) shaft

4.2.4.2 Redesign to eliminate shaft sleeve, replaceable threaded stud, and utilize new style Goulds 3700 locking impeller nut

4.2.4.3 Prep for final assembly

4.2.5 Impeller:

4.2.5.1 Tack weld or set screw all impeller wear rings in three places if needed

4.2.5.2 Balance to ISO G1.0

4.2.5.3 Final Inspect of impeller and work preformed

4.2.5.4 Prep for final assembly

4.2.6 Rotating Assembly:

4.2.6.1 Skim-cut impellor wear rings

4.2.6.2 Final finish OD’s to proper surface finish

4.2.6.3 Ensure proper TIR (Total Indicated Run-Out) of impeller wear ring OD’s and sleeve OD/s to 0.001” +/- 0.001”

4.2.7 Bearing Housing::

4.2.7.1 Clean bearing housing

4.2.7.2. Inspect machine fits for proper dimensions and for defects

4.2.7.3 Minor Weld Repair/Build-up of fits (weld, pads, etc.) or casing flaws if required

4.2.7.4 Machine fits if required to achieve minimum manufacturer recommended clearances

4.2.7.5 Notch bearing housing adapter for piping access to mechanical seal gland at 12:00 and 9:00 positions

4.2.7.6 Clean and de-burr all sharp edges

4.2.7.7 Inspect

4.2.7.8 Prep for final assembly

4.2.8 Seal Flush:

4.2.8.1 End-User personnel to install Plan 23 Seal Flush to ensure adequate cooling of mechanical seal

4.2.9 Closed System Lubrication:

4.2.9.1 Install ISOMAG magnetic bearing isolators

4.2.9.2 Install Oil-Rite milled aluminum level gauge with dial thermometer and Viton seals

4.2.9.3 Install desiccant breather or expansion chamber

4.2.9.4 Package loose parts to be shipped with pump

4.2.9.5 Plug any openings

4.2.10 Pump Seal

4.2.9.1 Install PPC HB1L Single Cartridge Mechanical Seal with pumping ring

4.2.9.2 Orientate gland ports in proper positions for Plan 23 tubing/piping installation by End-User personnel

4.2.11 Final Assembly:

4.2.11.1 Install case wear ring into pump case

4.2.11.2 Install cover wear ring into pump cover

4.2.11.3 Install stuffing box bushing into pump cover

4.2.11.4 Orientate stuffing box chamber vent in Top Vertical (12:00) position

4.2.11.5 Record final clearances

4.2.11.6 Record final run-outs

4.2.11.7 Install mechanical seal

4.2.11.8 Final Inspect of all installations and work preformed

4.2.11.9 Air test complete unit

4.2.11.10 Paint with high temperature silver paint

4.2.11.11 Install new parts listed in Table 1 and install all additional parts that will be required to recondition pump

4.2.11.12 All parts must be OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts as stated, NO SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED.

4.3 Delivery to Malmstrom AFB Heating Plant

4.3.1. Prior to shipping remove gauge, breather and external tubing

4.3.2. Package loose parts to be shipped with pump

4.3.3. Plug any openings

4.3.4. Verify mechanical seal spacers are installed

4.3.5. Mount pump to provided shipping stand

4.3.6. Plastic wrap palletized pump

4.3.7. Detailed final work scope report listing all tasks performed on the pump

4.3.8. Mechanical seal drawing

4.3.9. Spare parts list for all new parts

4.3.10. As built running clearances

4.3.11. Air test results on assembled pump

4.3.12. Dynamic balance report on impeller

4.3.13. Ship to Malmstrom AFB Heating Plant tagged with contract number

5. Government Responsibilities:

5.1 Government shall be responsible for shipment of pump to the contractor

5.2 Government shall be responsible for installation of pump

5.3 All plumbing and auxiliary equipment necessary to install the pump to manufacturer recommendations

6 Period of Performance:

6.1 Period of performance will be 140 days from receipt of the pump by contractor
