Statement of Work VA Health Care System Iowa City, Iowa Hamilton Starlet- 8AL

Scope In order to maintain a growing workflow, the Iowa City VA Healthcare System is seeking a second Starlet 8AL Liquid Handler for processing LC/MS/MS specimens.

Basic Equipment Specifications Flexible and fast compact robotic workstations to efficiently automate assays, sample preparation, calibrator and control preparation.

Compatible with 96 well microtiter plates, 2 mL vials and custom labware. Ability to pipette various liquid materials down to 0.5ul and up to 1000ul in volume accurately.

Barcoding capability/compatibility with current laboratory configuration for specimen tracking, assigning specimens to plates and vials.

8 Channels pipetting head.

Ability to communicate with laboratory selected middleware software, excel documents, and LCMS software for importing and exporting worklists.

Ability to program for solid phase extraction, protein precipitation and preparation of assay standards.

Ability to obtain from vendor, ancillary equipment (pressure/vacuum manifold, specimen/reagent/96 well tray racks, pipette tip racks, etc.) as necessary and flexibility to install/configure and reconfigure as needed.

Contains the MPE^2 as a pressure manifold. A Hamilton Heater Shaker must also be able to provide temperatures up to 105 degrees Celsius and 2500rpm shaking capability.

Programmable to multiple methods and deck configurations.

No drip pipetting when handling volatile liquids.

Software Vendor must provide any software required to operate in the manner described above including any future software updates that may be required to remain operational.

It is the responsibility of the Vendor to install, verify and maintain the interface of the instrument to be compatible with laboratory middleware.

Methods must be compatible and transferred from the current Hamilton Starlet software to the new Hamilton Starlet software and vice versa.

Miscellaneous Hardware Vendor to provide any necessary equipment and support to facilitate the expectations of the required specifications stated above.

Training The vendor shall provide instrument training for up to two (2) Key Operators at the time of equipment installation. This shall include training on the operation of the system, maintenance, data manipulation, and basic troubleshooting and repair. Training will be provided either at the work site or at a vendor training site.

On-site refresher training in option years of contract will be available if determined necessary by the facility.

Post method programming development, the two (2) Key Operators will be trained on the new method.

Service Plan Telephone support Monday-Friday 08:00-16:30 covering both hardware and software issues.

Monday-Friday 08:00-16:30, a service engineer is to be dispatched within 24 hours when Telephone support is not successful. A service engineer must arrive on-site, Monday-Friday 08:00-16:30, within 48 hours of completion of call.

At least one PM per contract year.

Replacement parts included in covered repairs and all other associated costs.

Characterization of Hazardous Waste The Contractor shall provide a description of the hazardous waste produced as a byproduct of the instrument operations and address the criteria listed in the Code of Federal regulations Title 40 “Protection of the Environment” Part 261.
