About this file

This Statement of Work details NASA's requirement to procure Schneider Electric PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) hardware for the FT Division at NASA John Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH. The procurement is driven by Schneider Electric's announcement to discontinue their previous hardware line, though support will continue until 2026. NASA seeks to standardize around the M580 hardware platform, which has already been implemented across several facilities at Lewis Field.

The specific requirements include 2 SQD Processor Module M580 Level 4 Remote units (BMEP584040), 4 SQD Power Supply Module X80 units (BMXCPS4002), and 1 SQD Quantum RIO Drop E/IP 1CH unit (140CRA31200). The hardware must support Unity XL software, existing Quantum and 800 series remote I/O drops, have Achilles level 2 certification, and include minimum 2GB integrated RAM. The vendor must be a qualified Schneider Electric distributor and provide new, unused hardware with SV XX.XX and PVXX or higher specifications. The period of performance extends to March 31, 2025.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements

The FT Division has committed to investing in the upcoming Schneider Electric PLC hardware product line, following the announcement that their previous hardware will become obsolete. Schneider Electric informed NASA of this change at the end of 2016 and officially released an end-of-commercialization notification in 2018. Although the hardware is no longer being manufactured, Schneider has indicated they will continue to support this hardware line until 2026. However, the discontinuation of older processors may pose challenges in sourcing replacement parts. NASA has accumulated "spare" Schneider hardware over the years and has already allocated funding for M580 hardware.

Several M580 systems have been upgraded throughout Lewis Field. Therefore, FT emphasizes the importance of standardizing around the M580, making it essential to procure additional M580 units for the remaining facilities that require this upgrade.

The information listed below is required to complete this purchase.
