About this file
This document contains two statements of work for repair services for autoclave systems at a National Aeronautics and Space Administration facility. The first statement of work requires replacing vacuum lines and thermocouple pass-through wiring for a Tenney autoclave, including removing and installing new vacuum lines on three channels, removing and installing a new thermocouple pass-through, and verifying vacuum lines and thermocouple calibration. The second statement of work requires replacing the thermocouple jack panel and pass-through wiring for a TEC autoclave, including removing the current jack panel and pass-through, installing new pass-through wiring and a jack panel, and verifying thermocouple channels. Both statements of work require the contractor to provide labor, replacement parts, documentation, and verification reports. The related federal contract opportunity is a special notice from NASA seeking repair services for the Tenney autoclave as outlined in the first statement of work.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Replace Vacuum Lines and Thermocouple (T/C) Pass-through Wiring for Tenney (SN 917) Autoclave System
1.0 Introducon/Background
Replace vacuum lines and thermocouple wiring of the Tenney autoclave (SN 917) in building 1238. This system has been showing signs of vacuum lines losing pressure and shorted channels with unstable readings. Of note, the thermocouple (TC) Jack in the autoclave was recently replaced so the pass through wiring is the main suspect for the cause of these issues.
2.0 Scope of Work
The work on the Tenney autoclave shall address the replacement of vacuum lines on Channels 1, 9, and 12 and TC pass-throughs on the system. This includes disconnecng and removing the current vacuum lines on Channels 1, 9 and 12, as well as the TC pass-through wiring in the autoclave, along with the installaon of new pass-throughs, connecng the TC jacks, and checkout of vacuum lines and the T/C wiring.
3.0 Objecves
Aer compleon of this work, the Tenney autoclave will have funconing vacuum channels and stable thermocouple readings, thus eliminang errac T/C response. The new pass-through will help ensure adequate vacuum on all channels and accurate readings on T/C channels.
4.0 Descripon of the Work/Contractor Tasks
Tasks:
1. Disconnect vacuum lines and replace with new lines on Channels 1, 9 and 12.
2. Disconnecng the current Jack panel
The contractor shall unwire the current jack panel and the pass-through wires from the external terminal strips.
3.-Removal of TC Pass-Through The contractor shall disconnect the external wiring of the current pass-through(s) and remove the pass-through body from autoclave penetraon. Careful inspecon shall be made of the old pass-through wiring bundle(s) for any wire breaks, cuts, tears, rubbing, or other abnormalies that could have contributed to earlier unstable and errac TC reading signals during autoclave cures.
4.-Installaon of new passthrough A new pass-through wire bundle, Type J wire shall be installed in the vacant locaon created by removing the old pass-through wire bundle(s). The new wiring shall be wired to the terminal bars in the juncon box mounted outside on the clave chamber.
5.-Installaon of Jack panel The newly installed pass-through wires shall be wired and secured to the twenty-four (24) TC jack connectors on the chamber’s interior jack panel.
6.-Verificaon vacuum lines and calibraon of T/C parts Aer compleon of the above tasks the funcon of the vacuum channel lines and TC jacks and wiring shall be performed and documented.
All vacuum lines and exisng wiring (i.e., TC lead wires, Ground wires and connecons, etc.) that exits out of the exterior TC Juncon box going to their final terminaon points (i.e., CSS300 cabinet, computer, PCI, etc.) shall be inspected for any defects, wire breaks, proper connuity, etc.) to help ensure accurate readings on the Part TC channels and alleviate errac TC response.
5.0 Deliverables
The contractor shall provide:
- The vendor should deliver what is listed above in 4.0 in 4.0Descripon of the Work/Contractor Tasks including Type J thermocouple pass through(s) with sufficient length and wire pairs for 24 thermocouple channels.
- Labor to remove vacuum lines on Channels 1, 9 and 12 and replace with new lines. Also to unwire and rewire and inspect the thermocouple jacks and their thermocouple connecons and wirings located outside the autoclave chamber.
- Any informaon, documentaon, drawings, etc. related to this maintenance service.
- Updated Calibraon service and report for the TC channels.
STATEMENT OF WORK
Replace Thermal Couple (T/C) Pass-through Wiring and Jacks for TEC (SN399)
2.0 Introducon/Background
The thermocouple (T/C) pass-through wiring of the TEC autoclave (SN 399) in building 1238B has been in place for over twenty-five (25) years. The TC jack panel is also worn that it no longer holds the TC jacks securely in place. The TC wires in the pass through have been in place for many years as well.
2.0 Scope of Work
The work in this project shall address the replacement of all Twelve (12) of the interior part TC jack panel inputs of the TEC autoclave and replacement of the part TC pass-through wire bundle(s).
3.0 Objecves
Aer compleon of this work, the TEC autoclave will have working TC jack inputs that will more securely hold Twelve (12) TC wire leads in their posion in the panel. The newly installed pass-through wires will help eliminate errac TC response and ensure accurate readings on the part TC channels.
4.0 Descripon of the Work/Contractor Tasks
Tasks:
1.Removal of current Jack panel The contractor shall dismount the current jack panel and disconnect the TC pass-through wires (cung of wires okay because the wires are going to be replaced).
2.-Removal of TC Pass Through The contractor shall disconnect the external wiring of the current pass-through(s) from the disconnect and remove the pass-throughs from the autoclave penetraon. Careful inspecon shall be made of the old pass-through wiring bundle(s) for any wire breaks, cuts, tears, rubbing, or other abnormalies that could have contributed to earlier unstable and errac TC readings during autoclave runs.
3.-Installaon of new passthrough New pass throughs, Type J wire bundle(s), shall be installed in the vacant locaon created by removing the old pass-through wire set. The new wiring shall be connected to the external extension wire routed to the data acquision system.
4.-Installaon of Jack panel Twelve (12) new thermocouple Type J female jack connectors capable of surviving autoclave temperatures of 700 degrees Fahrenheit and nitrogen pressures of 550psi shall be installed in the autoclave. Re-use of the old jack panel frame to mount the new TC jack connectors is acceptable.
5.-Verificaon/calibraon of Part TCs Aer compleon of the above tasks, ring out of the TC jacks and wiring shall be performed and documented.
All exisng wiring (i.e., TC lead wires, Ground wires and connecons, etc.) that exits out of the exterior TC Juncon box going to their final terminaon points (i.e., CSS300 cabinet, computer, PCI, etc.) shall be inspected for any defects, wire breaks, proper connuity, etc.) to help ensure accurate readings on the Part TC channels and alleviate errac TC response.
5.0 Deliverables
The contractor shall provide:
- The Vendor should deliver what is listed above in 4.0 Descripon of the Work/Contractor Tasks including Type J thermocouple pass-through(s) with sufficient wire pairs for 12 thermocouple channels.
- 12 – Type J very high temperature (700°F) female jacks
- Labor to replace and inspect the thermocouple jacks and the thermocouple pass through(s) and their connecons from the TC jack panel to the TEC computer, PCI, control cabinet, etc.
- Any informaon, documentaon, drawings, etc. related to this maintenance service for traceability and Configuraon Management, if later deemed required.
- Verificaon report of the TC channels.
