STATEMENT OF WORK
WR-10 Cryogenic Noise Sources
General Description and Background:
We require noise sources, with WR-10 waveguide ports, for operation at cryogenic temperatures. These noise sources will be used to calibrate the performance of low-temperature and low-noise amplifiers in development in NASA-Goddard’s Detector Systems Branch.
Specifications:
The noise sources shall operate from frequencies of 65-118 GHz.
The noise sources shall output to a WR-10 waveguide port.
The noise sources shall provide return loss from the waveguide port of less than or equal to 20 dB across the band of operation.
The noise sources shall include a thermometer for reading out the temperature of the source.
The noise sources shall enable a noise temperature accuracy of less than or equal to 1 K.
The noise sources shall dissipate less than or equal to 3 mW of power, when the sources are operated at temperatures up to 30 K.
The noise sources shall operate when the components are mounted inside a cryostat and cooled to temperatures between 50 K and 7 mK.
The quantity of noise sources provided shall be two.
Delivery of these components shall be within 10 weeks of the award.
