SPECIFICATION DOCUMENT

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Administrative and Financial Services (AFM) Information

Geospatial Data Storage Array

1. Introduction

The USDA-ARS Southeast Watershed Research Lab (SEWRL) in Tifton, GA conducts remote sensing and mapping of agricultural research plots and farms throughout the region. Remote sensing and mapping work are integral to many objectives in our research plans across the units, touching on agronomy, soils, hydrology, weed science and entomology, so this work is very important to our overall research efforts. Currently, SEWRL has one geospatial data server, which has nearly filled with remote sensing and geospatial data collected by the Unit thus far. New sensors are becoming operational and will significantly increase the storage needs of the Unit.

2. Scope

The USDA-ARS SEWRL in Tifton, Georgia requires contractor assistance to procure a data storage array.

The contractor shall provide: 1.) 150 Tb data storage array.

4. Tasks

The contractor will perform the following tasks as a part of this engagement:

This statement of work is for equipment. The contractor shall provide all equipment specified in the Scope documentation about the array and its configuration. Equipment delivery and overview shall take place at the Southeast Watershed Research Laboratory, 2379 Rainwater Rd, Tifton, GA..

6. Procurement Considerations

The primary cost associated with this data array is the initial purchase price. With regular annual maintenance, life expectancy of this data array can easily serve the unit 5+ years. The contracting officer should consider the availability of parts and availability of service regionally when making this purchase.
