About this file

This sources sought notice is seeking information from potential sources for an upgraded slip ring assembly used in the M1A2 Abrams main battle tank. The upgraded slip ring assembly provides constant power, fluid, electrical, and pneumatic transfer between the vehicle's hull and turret, allowing the turret to continuously rotate 360 degrees. It must meet legacy hydraulic and pneumatic requirements while adding increased power, controller area network, gigabit ethernet, isolation for communications, and RF signal transfer capabilities. The government does not possess the technical data package for this item, which is currently sole-sourced to Moog Component Group. Potential sources must submit a source approval request package by April 23, 2021 and undergo qualification testing and evaluation to be approved as an alternate source. If approved, sources would have the opportunity to compete for future indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts for this critical survivability component.
