Text1: The Food Quality Laboratory at BARC has a requirement for a texture analyzer and exponent software. The texture analyzer is essential for the food quality research conducted in our laboratory. The analyzer measures texture and quantifies the hardness, brittleness, fracturability, adhesiveness, stiffness, elasticity, Bloom strength, etc. of foods and other products. The texture analyzer is capable of measuring virtually any physical product characteristic, is efficient, is reliable and accurate, is capable of high-speed testing, and has an easy to use comprehensive software package. The estimated dollar value of this contract is $26,650.00.
Text2: The proposed contractor for this texture analyzer is Texture Technologies Corporation, 6 Patton Drive, Robinsonville, NJ.

The footprint of this texture analyzer is optimally suited for the available lab space. The equipment is compatible with existing, essential, and expensive accessories, and is familiar to our department personnel.

Familiarity with machine and software - The software package from TA.XT plus has been used since 1998. FQL has an expert trained on the exponent software program and all end users are familiar with the program. Any other texture analyzer would require new software which would have to be purchased and would take considerable paid hours for skilled personnel to learn.
