1. Are all surveying and herbicide applications accessible by ATV or UTV on Danskin Trail System?
*Answer: The Danskin Trail System and herbicide treatment area is accessible by ATV, Horse and Foot. A majority of the application sites are adjacent to the trail and/or very close.
There area a couple known sites of jointed goatgrass located off the trail a little ways, but could still be accessed easily by foot and ATV as long as no resource damage occurs.
2. Danskin has been overrun with a Rush Skeleton population over the years; has there been any herbicide applications to control noxious weeds in this area in the past?
*Answer: Noxious weed control has taken place in the Danskins and along a variety of the trails in the system. However, the target species are scotch thistle, spotted knapweed, white-top and other invaders that may be new to the area. It is understood that rush skeletonweed is extensive and it will not be expected that rush skeletonweed is the main focus. It would be expected that rush skeletonweed is treated if isolated plants or small patches are located along the designated trail system in the area, where there is no other rush skeletonweed.
3. Is the entire Idaho City Trail system accessible by foot, or livestock travel only? If a vehicle is permitted in some areas, what percentage of this line item would that be?
*Answer: The entire system is accessible by foot and many of the trails are accessible by ATV. Approximately 80% can be accessed with ATV. The COR will work with the contractor prior to treatment on which trails are accessible and which aren’t by ATV.
4. Have any of the trail systems on the Idaho City District ever been treated for noxious weeds?
* Answer: Noxious weed control has taken place along a variety of the trails in the identified trail system. Spotted knapweed and rush skeletonweed are the most common species to be found. It is expected that infestations will vary in density and some trails may have very little noxious weed occurrence and other trails will have more.
5. Are all pesticides to be furnished by contractor?
*Answer: Yes, all pesticides, dyes and surfactants will be furnished by the contractor. All pesticides must be covered under the Boise Noxious Weed EIS.
6. Are all trail systems marked with signage or trail numbers?
*Answer: During the last inventory all of the main trails and roads were marked. The contractor can also be supplied with maps that are georeferenced that can help with navigation.
7. Regarding needed equipment, part of the project calls for the use of an ATV with chemical tanks. Can a UTV be used or is it limited to ATV?
*Answer: A majority of the areas identified that ATV’s for use is only open for vehicles up to the dimensions of an ATV, nothing larger. For example in the Danskins.

8. Is the contractor expected to make one treatment per season or multiple visits and treatments?
*Answer: Some sites may only need to be visited one time, however due to plant phenology, sites may require more than one visit to ensure all the target species are treated. It is typical for sites to be treated once and at least re-checked incase there is a need for re-treatment to treat any missed plants.
9. Are identified noxious weed treatment areas adjacent to roads/trails or is there off-trail work required?
*A majority of the work is adjacent to roads/trails. However, if a site extends a bit beyond and an ATV cannot reach it with the equipment, some back-pack sprayer work might be needed.
10. Instead of backpack spraying is it possible to spray it off of horse back with horse back mounted sprayers? We have done back country this way for many years now and have found it to be faster and more efficient would this be allowed?
*Answer: Yes, absolutely. A contractor can use horses with horse back mounted sprayers.
