Statement of Work
Background.
The USDA-Agricultural Research Service is conducting research on salmon genetics and breeding at the NCWMAC in Franklin, ME.
Project objective.
One new 28ft wide by 60ft long by 18ft tall structure is needed to replace a greenhouse that has reached the end of its life and can no longer be serviced or repaired due to extensive corrosion to the structural components of the building. This structure will contain multiple saltwater recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) used to house research animals at the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center (NCWMAC). These saltwater RAS systems create a highly corrosive environment within the structure that requires all structural components to be made with corrosion resistant powder coatings and stainless-steel components. The vendor is also required to provide a Structural Report, and Architectural Drawing that are both stamped by a Maine P.E. to prove that the structure is able to withstand both the heavy snow and wind loads found in coastal Maine.
