STATEMENT OF WORK
Ultrasound with Imaging and Shear Wave Elastography
I. SCOPE OF WORK
A new ultrasound instrument, warranty, training and support as set forth below.
II. REQUIREMENTS
A. Specifications
BASE LINE ITEM: The contractor shall deliver a system meeting the following specifications to Building 202, Room B165, at NIST Gaithersburg, MD Attn: NIST TPOC:
1. Ultrasound System o Capable of conducting imaging and shear wave elastography measurements o Data acquisition and ultrasonic transducer controller o Ability to use transducers with up to 256 channels o Ability to use transducers with frequency range from 0.5 MHz to 25 MHz o Ability to support commercially-available linear, convex, and volumetric transducers with bandwidth from 1 MHz to 25 MHz o Ability to conduct 2D and 3D imaging o Control voltage range 3 V to 90 V with 0.5 V steps o Current maximum pulse per channel: 2 Amp sustained current of 0.5 Amp o User selectable imaging modes with preset software parameters to transmit, receive, and image reconstruction: plane wave imaging, color flow Doppler, power flow Doppler, spectral Doppler, conventional line mode imaging, harmonic imaging, shear wave elastography (generation and imaging capabilities), synthetic aperture, User access to software parameters to change imaging mode operating parameters, see transmit and receive specifications o Beamforming capability
User access and control of beamforming and image processing algorithms o Self-check utilities to identify hardware faults
Limit checking for high transmit energy levels and preventing transducer damage o Minimum 14 bit A/D converters with programmable sample rate (minimum of 50 MHz)
Interleave rate minimum 100 MHz o High definition video output o Support for 128 channel and 256 channel transducers o 120 V or 220 V power supply o Universal Transducer Adapter configuration o Ability to create scripts that set imaging parameters and acquisition parameters using common languages i.e. MATLAB, C++, Python, or R Provide example scripts/programs for the user selectable imaging modes listed above Store imaging mode parameters for a minimum of 5 different material types o Portable system maximum weight of 100 kg
2. Transmit Specifications o Minimum Frequency range 1 MHz to 20 MHz o Tristate drive (+V,-V, ground) o Focal delay 0 microseconds to 50 microseconds with minimum 6 nanosecond resolution or better per channel o Max power on a single channel limited to less than 100 W o Control the transmission parameters on each channel:
Tri-state transitions with a maximum of 5 nanosecond spacing (200 MHz rate) Long ultrasound burst minimum of 1 millisecond or better Program pulse: amplitude range 5-90 Vp Program pulse parameters: center frequency, pulse width, pulse length, delay Program pulse: pulse width (minimum 15 nanoseconds, maximum 700 nanoseconds) Ability to define an arbitrary waveform on each channel
3. Receive Specifications o Minimum Frequency Range 1 MHz to 25 MHz o User configurable RF data digital filters
Low pass: Programmable anti-aliasing filter cutoffs: 5 MHz to 30 MHz High pass: Programmable filter cutoffs: 0.1 MHz to 0.25 MHz o Ability to put transducer in receive-only mode
4. Triggering o Ability of controller to operate as master or slave to receive or transmit a trigger signal for timing with other acquisition equipment such as load cells, accelerometers, high speed cameras Minimum one (1) trigger input, programmable Minimum one (1) trigger output, programmable o Capability to phase lock with multiple ultrasound systems for separate transmit and receive operations
5. Data collection and Processing o Conduct digital averaging, digital filtering, digital subtraction of data channels during acquisition o Accumulate a minimum of 600 images o Minimum memory 32 MB per channel or better o Data transfer rate minimum of 4 GB/s when transferring from controller to storage system
6. Three (3) Transducers o One (1) Linear array transducer (new)
Minimum 128 element Frequency range: 5 MHz to 11 MHz o One (1) Convex array linear transducer (new) Minimum 128 element Frequency range: 2 MHz to 5 MHz o One (1) Linear array transducer (reconditioned or new) Minimum 128 element Frequency range: 4 MHz to 7 MHz
B. Delivery
BASE LINE ITEM: The Contractor shall ship the instrument and accessories FOB DESTINATION to Building 202, Room B165, at NIST Gaithersburg, MD Attn: NIST TPOC.
C. Warranty
BASE LINE ITEM: Initial Warranty: The contractor shall provide a minimum of a one-year warranty for the equipment. The warranty shall cover all parts, labor and travel. The warranty shall commence upon successful completion of delivery and acceptance of instrument. If there is a problem with the instrument related to materials or workmanship; the labor, travel, and spare parts required to fix the instrument are included in the price.
OPTION LINE ITEM: The contractor shall provide an extended warranty that extends one (1) year from the expiration of the initial warranty if NIST exercises the option.
D. Training
OPTION LINE ITEM: The contractor shall offer training for up to two NIST staff. Training can occur offsite.
E. Support
OPTION LINE ITEM: The contractor shall provide, by telephone and email, a minimum of eight (8) hours of software and hardware assistance for one (1) year from equipment acceptance.
III. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
Base Items: One (1) year and 164 days (150 days for delivery of the system, operations and maintenance manual, plus one (1) year for the initial warranty.
Option Items: Up to one (1) year, depending on items exercised.
Within the period of performance, the contractor shall submit perform in accordance with the Deliverables Table set forth in Section V below.
IV. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Normal duty hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
with the exception of Federal holidays.
V. DELIVERABLES

VI. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
Within two weeks of NIST’s acceptance of the equipment, NIST will image a synthetic tissue phantom with 2 cm glass beads using B-mode and shear wave elastography. The imaging will not occur during impact.
VII. PAYMENT TERMS
Contractor shall invoice one (1) initial and final invoice only upon receiving NIST’s final acceptance of the ultrasound and its manuals. Advanced payment or commercial interim payments are not authorized.
