About this file
This is a Statement of Work for NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) procuring a ThermoFisher Scientific Desktop scanning electron microscope (SEM) system. The primary requirement is the Phenom XL G3 large stage SEM (part no. TF-1467680) featuring a 100mm x 100mm sample accommodation capacity, acceleration voltages from 2kV to 20.5kV, maximum magnification of 200,000x, motorized x/y stage with 50mm x 50mm travel, high-definition backscatter detector, integrated navigation camera, and a 24-inch monitor with computer, mouse, and keyboard. The system includes a one-year warranty.
Additional line items required include MAPS 3 Software for advanced image mapping and stitching (part no. TF-1457289), a one-day onsite SEM installation and training service (part no. TR300), an EDS upgrade for elemental analysis (part no. NSI-EDS), ChemiSEM and Elemental Quant Mapping software (part no. PW-230-002) with machine learning capabilities for real-time elemental analysis, a Secondary Electron Detector (SED) upgrade (part no. NSI-SED), and an extended travel motorized stage option (part no. TF-1186112) to increase scan area to 100mm x 100mm. The place of performance is NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, with a performance period of 8-12 weeks after receipt of order (ARO).

SED, EDS, extended stage travel 100mm x 100mm, ProSuite applications software: Particle-, Poro and Fiber-metric Upgradable to Particle X for automated SEM/EDS analysis
2 TF-1457289 MAPS 3 Software for Phenom - image mapping MAPS for advanced image mapping and stitching
3 TR300 Onsite SEM Install and Training - 1 day Training of SEM system(s).
4 NSI-EDS Upgrade Phenom SEM with EDS This upgrade or factory option upgrades a Phenom (25mm,C5) with hardware and software to allow fully integrated energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) for elemental analysis. It includes EID Elemental Identification software. Upgrade at Nanoscience Instruments, a ThermoFisher authorized Service Center. Pre-requisite:
Phenom SEM
5 PW-230-
ChemiSEM and Elemental Quant Mapping for EDSChemiSEM uses a combination of machine learning and ultrafast signal processing to provide elemental maps in real time over a live SEM image. Background quantification of the signals provides a live map of the sample's composition, displaying a live image of pixel-by-pixel elemental analyses simultaneously. This makes elemental analysis more accessible and faster than ever before. Quantitative Elemental Mapping and Line Scan is included. No hardware upgrades required
6 NSI-SED Secondary Electron Detector (SED) Upgrade for Phenom
NSI-SED
SED detector upgrade option for Phenom .
7 TF-1186112 Extended travel motorized stage option for Phenom XLExtended range motorized x/y stage for Phenom XL G2:
- increase scan area from 50mm x 50mm to 100mm x 100mm stage travel
3. Place of Performance NASA Langley Research Center Hampton, VA 23681
4. Period of Performance
8-12 weeks ARO.
