About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the procurement and installation of a Ge [220] monochromator upgrade for an existing Empyrean X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) unit at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama.

The vendor must supply one Ge [220] monochromator compatible with the existing Empyrean XRD system and provide all necessary hardware, labor, and technical expertise for delivery, installation, and calibration. A qualified OEM-certified technician or authorized service representative must physically install the monochromator and perform all required system alignments and calibrations to ensure the instrument operates within the manufacturer's specified tolerances and produces high-resolution data. Hardware delivery must occur within 4 to 6 weeks after Receipt of Order (ARO), with installation and calibration coordinated with the MSFC Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) and completed promptly following hardware delivery. The hardware shall be delivered to MSFC Central Shipping and Receiving at 4631 Saturn Road, and installation and calibration shall take place at MSFC Building 4602 in Huntsville, AL 35812. Final acceptance occurs when the MSFC TPOC verifies that the hardware has been delivered undamaged, successfully installed, and calibrated, and confirms that the XRD unit successfully produces expected high-resolution data using the newly installed monochromator prior to final sign-off.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 Background and Objective

The Materials Science and Metallurgy Laboratory at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) utilizes an Empyrean X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) unit to support a wide variety of materials research and testing projects. To better serve laboratory customers and provide higher resolution, more detailed analytical data, the laboratory requires the procurement of a Ge [220] monochromator upgrade for the existing XRD system.

2.0 Scope of Work

The vendor shall provide all necessary hardware, labor, and technical expertise required to deliver, install, and calibrate one (1) Ge [220] monochromator for the existing Empyrean XRD unit located at MSFC. The vendor is responsible for ensuring the new hardware is fully integrated and functioning within the manufacturer's specified tolerances.

3.0 Specific Requirements

The vendor shall perform the following tasks:

Hardware Delivery: Supply one (1) Ge [220] monochromator compatible with the existing Empyrean XRD system.

Installation: Provide a qualified OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) certified technician or authorized service representative to physically install the monochromator onto the existing XRD system.

Calibration & Testing: Perform all necessary system alignments and calibrations post-installation to ensure the instrument is operating correctly. The vendor must verify that the monochromator meets optimal beam conditioning specifications and operates seamlessly with the existing system software and hardware.

4.0 Delivery and Period of Performance

Delivery Schedule: All hardware must be delivered within 4 to 6 weeks after Receipt of Order (ARO).

Installation Schedule: Installation and calibration shall be coordinated with the MSFC Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) and completed promptly following the delivery of the hardware.

5.0 Place of Performance and Delivery Location

The hardware shall be delivered to MSFC Central Shipping and Receiving (4631 Saturn Rd), and the installation/calibration shall take place at: NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Building 4602 Huntsville, AL 35812

6.0 Acceptance Criteria

Final acceptance of the deliverables will occur when the MSFC TPOC verifies that the hardware has been delivered undamaged, successfully installed, and calibrated. The vendor must demonstrate that the XRD unit successfully produces the expected high-resolution data using the newly installed Ge [220] monochromator prior to final sign-off.
