About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a procurement for a fluidized temperature bed system for Glenn Research Center (GRC), aimed at annealing magnetic cores for prototype power systems. The comprehensive requirement includes eight specific items: a FTBSL15 fluidized temperature bath with 240VAC single phase power, 100 lbs of 120 mesh aluminum oxide working media, an exhaust collar, lid, and a 7" diameter by 15" depth working area; additional aluminum oxide; a bath lid; an air filter-regulator with digital pressure gauge; two sizes of parts baskets; a DCU air filtration system with 120VAC power and 210 CFM variable speed blower; a dust collection cyclone; and a replacement filter. The system is designed to provide a precisely controlled temperature environment with accelerated heat transfer, specifically for GRC's specialized magnetic alloy research and development. The lead time for the complete system is 4-6 weeks after the contract award date.

SOW/Requirements for Accurate Thermal Systems Fluidized Temperature Bed

Background: GRC has made a significant investment in the development, production, and characterization of amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloys. Much of the equipment in the laboratory is one-of-kind or very specialized. This procurement is for a fluidized bed system that will be used to anneal magnetic cores for prototype power systems. The objective of this purchase is to provide a precisely controlled temperature environment with accelerated heat transfer in comparison to high convection gas furnaces.
