About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Johnson Space Center's requirement for acquiring a TA Instruments TMA 450 thermomechanical analyzer, installation, and training. The high-performance instrument features a temperature range of -150 to 1000 °C, a friction-free force motor, precise sample measurement capabilities, and includes an optional Mechanical Cooling Accessory that provides sub-ambient temperatures down to -70°C. The instrument package contains an instruction manual, accessory kit with calibration standards and probes, and carries CE marking and NRTL certifications.
The SOW specifies installation will be performed according to ISO 9000 procedures by Service Engineers with an average of 15 years of experience, including calibration with a traceable standard and basic operational training. The place of performance is NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, specifically Building 7, Room 2023, with a 30-day period of performance after receipt of order (ARO). The total procurement includes the TMA 450 instrument (Part # 946500.901) and a thermal installation and training fee (Part # 999800.528).

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
This requirement is for the acquisition of TA Instruments TMA 450, intallation, and training to be performed at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) for research and development work at the center.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
QTY PART # DESCRIPTION
946500.901 DISCOVERY TMA 450:
Discovery TMA 450: The NEW TMA 450, a high performing thermomechanical analyzer, provides information about a material’s coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CTE), shrinkage, softening point, glass transition temperature, heat deflection temperature and much more. The standard operating tests include temperature ramp templates(monitor displacement and strain), isostrain templates
(monitor force), and force ramp templates
(monitor displacement and strain), as well as the ability to generate custom test methods.
Instrument features include a friction-free force motor that is optimized for precise, direct control of force or displacement in static, ramp and oscillatory modes of operation with a force range of 0.001 to 2 N.
The high performing sample measurement system provides an accurate, linear response over a dynamic measuring range of +/- 2.5 mm and a displacement sensitivity of 15 nm for sample lengths up to 26 mm. The standard temperature range of the Discovery TMA 450 is -150 to 1000 °C. The optional, liquid nitrogen-free Mechanical Cooling Accessory
(the MCA70) provides sub-ambient experimental temperatures down to -70°C using either a controlled or ballistic cooling profile. The TMA 450 features the new innovative “app-style” touch screen with One-
Touch-Away ™ functionality and TRIOS software for complete instrument control, data analysis and management. The new Gas
Delivery Manifold (GDM) on the TMA 450 features precise, automated gas flow control and switching of two purge gases. The instrument package includes an instruction manual and accessory kit. The accessory kit contains a coefficient of expansion calibration standard, temperature calibration standard, standard expansion probe, penetration probe, macro-expansion probe, and quartz sample stage. The Discovery TMA is the only TMA instrument in the industry to include a 5 year warranty on furnaces. The TMA 450 carries
CE marking and NRTL certifications.
1 999800.528 THERMAL INSTALL & TRAINING FEE:
Thermal and Rubotherm Installation &
Training: Installation will be provided according to ISO 9000 procedure by one of our highly trained Service Engineers (average experience level of our field Service
Engineers is over 15 years). The ISO 9000 procedure insures consistency and high quality throughout the installation process.
IQ/OQ procedures are available for an additional fee. The installation (except DMA) will include calibration with a traceable standard and a certificate of calibration. Basic
Operational Training is also provided on the equipment after it is installed in your laboratory.
3. Place of Performance
NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC)
2101 NASA Parkway
Bldg 7, Room 2023
Houston, TX 77058
4. Period of Performance
30 days ARO
