About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a procurement for NASA's National Transonic Facility (NTF) to address a critical teflon seal failure on the Nearside door. The document specifies the procurement of four external face jackets (two each of part numbers 61577 and 61576) to repair a seal that provides a critical barrier between the Cryogenic tunnel circuit and the NTF facility. The current temporary repair involves speed tape, which has required routine maintenance since the initial failure in January 2023.
The SOW indicates the materials will be used at NASA Langley Research Center (LARC) NTF, with a performance period of 14 weeks. This appears to be a sole source requirement, as noted in the associated federal contract opportunity details, suggesting a specific vendor or specialized component is needed to resolve the facility's critical seal issue.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements The teflon seal on the NTF Nearside door failed in January 2023. At the time NTF technicians repaired, as best possible, with speed tape to get the NTF back online. Since then we have routinely needed to make repairs to the speed tape solution. The seal provides a critical barrier between the Cryogenic tunnel circuit and the NTF facility.
