About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Langley Research Center's requirement for purchasing Kulite Pressure Scanners (or equivalent) to replace end-of-life hardware for critical pressure measurements and computational fluid dynamic simulations. The procurement involves two specific pressure scanner models with detailed technical specifications: one with 16 channels at 25 psid/25 psia (Part # KMPS-1-64-AP-E-25D/25A/X/X) and another with 16 channels at 50 psia/100 psia (Part # KMPS-1-64-AP-E-50A/100A/X/X), with a quantity of one for each model.
The hardware requirements specify precise technical parameters including multiple channel measurement capabilities, compact size (64-port system not exceeding 2x2x5 inches), thermal compensation (0-130 deg F), data transmission capabilities, pressure range adaptability, high accuracy (+/- 0.2%), and vibration tolerance. Software requirements mandate IEEE-standard compatible digitization software (preferably LabVIEW or MATLAB), a minimum scan rate of 100 samples/sec/channel, auto-zero capability, and time-stamping functionality. The performance will occur at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, with a performance period of 8-10 weeks after receipt of order, and the manufacturer must demonstrate continued hardware and software support.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
NASA Langley Research Center requires the purchase of Kulite Pressure Scanners (or Equivalent) which be used to acquire pressure measurements that are critical to informing engineering decisions, as well as comparison to computational fluid dynamic simulations. These scanners will be used to replace end-of-life hardware.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
Kulite Pressure Scanners (or Equivalent) Part # Description Qty
KMPS-1-64-AP-E-25D/25A/X/X
Kulite Pressure Scanner (or Equivalent) S/N: S01-17-2 16 channels: 25 psid 16 channels: 25 psia
KMPS-1-64-AP-E-50A/100A/X/X
Kulite Pressure Scanner (or Equivalent) S/N: S01-18-2 16 channels: 50 psia 16 channels: 100 psia
Pressure System Requirements:
HARDWARE:
• Pressure scanner(s) that can measure multiple channels with the connection of flexible tubing, such as Tygon, preferably 0.04 or 0.063 diameter, in one package
• Each scanner should have on the order of 16 to 64 channels in a small package. For a
64-port system, the size should not exceed approximately 2x2x5 inches. A 16-port system should occupy approximately 25% of the volume.
• The pressure scanner shall be thermally compensated for temperature variations from at least 0-130 deg F.
• The scanner shall connect with a compact cable that can transmit data at least 150 ft. It is preferable that the scanner operate with standard wiring such as an RJ-45 Cat4,5,or 6 ethernet cable.
• The scanner design shall be adaptable in pressure range to include differential values in the vicinity of 1 psi, 5 psi, 15psi, and 25psi. Absolute modules in 15 psi and 25 psi are also preferred as an option. The actual pressure values in this initial purchase are less important for testing and integration as long as the scanner design and manufacturer have these approximate pressure ranges available.
• The published accuracy of the scanner shall be approximately +/- 0.2% with a desired +/- 0.1% of full-scale, or better, in typical operation.
• The scanner shall be tolerant of vibration of at least 10 g’s from near zero to 100 Hz.
SOFTWARE:
slpatte1 Highlight slpatte1 Highlight slpatte1 Highlight slpatte1 Highlight
• Each scanner shall come with software to digitize the pressure readings. This software shall be compatible with IEEE standards and/or modern computer language standards enabling rapid integration WITHOUT proprietary knowledge of the operating system to make it compatible. Preferably, the software shall be compatible with LabVIEW or MATLAB languages.
• The maximum scan rate of the scanner shall be at least 100 samples/sec/channel
• The scanner shall have auto-zero capability.
• The data shall include a time stamp associated with the scan that can be generated internally with the system driver, or externally with an IRIG-B, or GPS, or IEEE standard time server.
SUPPORT:
• The scanner manufacturer shall forecast continued support of the hardware and associated drivers/software by demonstrating a sustainable customer base.
• The system must be easy to turn-on and operate and be able to acquire data following a
“cold-start” within 5 minutes.
• The pressure system shall be compatible with a common calibration standard to conduct frequent and routine calibrations. It is preferred to be compatible with Mensor pressure standard systems since they are commonly used in our target facilities.
