About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for NASA contract 80NSSC23PA019 focused on reconfiguring the Advanced Noise Control Fan to an unducted/open rotor configuration (UnD/OR-ANCF) to support NASA's Advanced Aircraft Transport Technology project. The work will evaluate baseline configuration sources and collect flow variation data for code verification and machine learning applications.

The SOW outlines two main tasks: Task 1 requires designing an instrumented stator vane for measuring unsteady stator surface pressures and creating schematics for hot-film anemometry assembly integration. Task 2 involves assembly and testing, including mounting pressure sensors, integrating the instrumented stator vane and hot-film components into the UnD/OR-ANCF test article, and conducting open-rotor testing. Throughout both tasks, regular status updates must be provided to NASA POC and stakeholders. The contractor must deliver all test data and geometry information to NASA, with pressure sensors and hot-film hardware being provided through separate funding sources. The work is scheduled for December 13, 2024, and will be performed at NASA Glenn Research Center with the University of Notre Dame du Lac as the sole-source contractor.

Un-Ducted Advanced Noise Control Fan

Source Evaluation Test I

13-December-2024

Contract 80NSSC23PA019 reconfigures the Advanced Noise Control Fan to a run an unducted / open rotor configuration, (UnD/OR-ANCF) to support NASA's Advanced Aircraft Transport

Technology project milestones relating to development of efficient propulsors. A detailed source evaluation of the baseline configuration is required for demonstration of relevancy - to include an extended flow variation/acquisition data set for code verification and machine learning capacities.

TASK 1: Instrumentation Design for Source Evaluation Test

(a) Design of an instrumented stator vane for concurrent measurement of unsteady stator surface pressures.

(b) Design of schematic of hot-film anemometry assembly integration on to UnD/OR-ANCF

DELIVERABLES Task 1:

(a) Provide regular status updates to NASA POC and stakeholders

(b) Conduct a design review with NASA and/or other stakeholders to obtain feedback and approval of the instrumented stator design, and hot-film assembly, including any modifications to the facility needed for integration with the test article.

( c) Procure the instrumented stator (manufacturing costs covered by different funding source)

• (pressure sensors will be obtained via a different funding source)

TASK2: Assembly and Test

Complete final assembly with code validation instrumentation integrated with UnD

OR/ ANCF test article and data acquisition system.

DELIVERABLES Task 2:

(a) Provide regular status updates to NASA POC and stakeholders

(b) Mount unsteady pressure sensors on the new stator vane

(c) Integrate instrumented stator vane into UnD/OR-ANCF test article and data acquisition systems

• (pressure sensors will be obtained via a different funding source)

(d) Integrate hot-film into UnD/OR-ANCF test article and data acquisition systems

• (hot-film hardware will be obtained via a different funding source)

( e) Conduct open-rotor testing according to a test matrix agreed upon by NDTL, NASA, and stakeholders

(f) Provide all data and geometry information to NASA for reporting purposes.
