About this file

This statement of work describes requirements for direct current superconducting quantum interference device (DC SQUID) sensors and electronics to support testing of transition-edge sensor detectors. The vendor shall provide three DC SQUID sensor chips capable of operation at temperatures below 1 Kelvin, readout electronics to independently bias and read out each SQUID channel, and a breakout box for external current sources to bias devices under test. The solicitation seeks these products and services to support far-infrared astrophysics applications being developed at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Solicitation number 80NSSC24861212Q from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center requests quotes for SQUID electronics and sensors to meet the requirements laid out in the attached statement of work.

Statement of Work Direct Current Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (DC SQUID) sensors and electronics 16 January 2023

Summary:

The vendor shall provide 3 DC SQUID sensor chips, readout electronics capable of biasing and reading them out three independent SQUID channels, and a breakout box such that external current sources may be used for biasing of devices under test. These products will be used to support the testing of custom transition-edge sensor (TES) detectors developed at NASA/GSFC for far-infrared astrophysics applications.

Technical Requirements:

The DC SQUID sensor chips shall:

1. Be capable of operation at temperatures <1K;

2. Have two independent channels per chip;

3. Have integrated bias resistors for TES bias;

4. Have 3 nH input inductance;

5. Have <10 pA/sqrt(Hz) current noise at 4 K;

6. Have < 5 pA/sqrt(Hz) current noise at 100 mK.

The readout electronics shall:

1. Have a bandwidth of 6 MHz in open and closed loop operating modes;

2. Have the ability to simultaneously bias and readout three SQUID channels;

3. Have current sources that can be used for TES bias;

4. Be able to supply the correct biases for Magnicon SQUID series arrays;

5. Communicate via opto-isolated RS232/485 interface.

The breakout box shall:

1. Allow external access to the current lines of the readout electronics;

2. Use BNC connectors.

Period of Performance:

01/06/2024 - 09/16/2024
