About this file

This statement of work outlines requirements for electromechanically redundant hold-down release mechanisms for a lunar payload project. NASA Ames Research Center requires four medium duty HDRMs from Glenair, Inc. with part number 061-005 and a release preload of 2500lb. The devices will be used for deploying satellites and payloads in space, utilizing electrical current to break a fuse wire and release a pre-loaded bolt. The supplier must be ISO9001 compliant and provide certificates of conformance and traceability documentation. The hardware will support a Commercial Lunar Payload Services contract and be integrated at NASA Ames. The lead time is four weeks and products should ship to NASA Ames. Points of contact are provided for resource and program management. The related federal contract opportunity from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center seeks these HDRMs with the same part number and quantity.

Medium Duty HDRM Statement of Work

1. Suggested Supplier: Glenair, Inc.

2. Part Number: 061-005

3. Purchase Quantity: 4

4. Part Name: Electrically redundance Hold-Down Release Mechanism, Medium Duty.

2500lb release preload.

5. Part Description: Hold-Down and Release

Mechanisms are electromechanical devices used in the deployment of satellites and other payloads in space. Supplied in various formats and measured-release preloads, the devices are optimized for foolproof release-reliability with built-in mechanical and electrical redundancy. In non-pyrotechnic HDRMs, the planned release of the deployable satellite/payload is activated by a pre-determined value of electrical current to a fuse-wire system which causes the wire to break under tension and allows a pre-loaded mechanical bolt to actuate.

6. Purchase Notes
