At the collegiate level, GMiS invites its GMiS Scholars, GMiS Delegates and STEM Civic Service Leaders to participate in the GMiS Conference. These students average over a 3.0 GPA, and possess a competitive record of academic coursework, internship and/or research experience, leadership and service within the K-12 community. These students make viable candidates for NASA employment through the career fair conducted during the GMiS Conference. At the professional level, GMiS has several platforms including a major career fair where NASA can engage with a diverse group of technical talent ranging from entry level to senior executive. Through the GMiS Awards, NASA has access to over 1,000 GMiS Award recipients and countless nominees. Through the executive track at the GMiS Conference, NASA can engage with other senior leadership in the federal government, military and corporate America.
Through the higher education track, NASA has the opportunity to engage with faculty and administrators from Historically Black Colleges and Universities as well as Hispanic Serving Institutions to promote its federal grant opportunities.
Reputation as a Diversity Leader – GMiS’ vision is to be a national leader in keeping America technologically strong by promoting STEM careers, especially in underserved communities. GMiS programs, from K-12, collegiate to professional, support the vision. GMiS remains committed to working toward the day when America STEM technical workforce in the federal government and corporate America reflect the diversity of the nation.
GMiS programs and conferences are designed to build a culture of lifelong learning, focus on stimulating interest in STEM careers, have defined outcomes and learning objectives, promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, and develop current and future leaders.
