Grand Forks AFB Winter Driving Trainer Requirements
1.0 Background. The 319 Reconnaissance Wing requests to purchase a winter driving simulator to help prepare Airmen for winter driving. This can also be used to help drive safety training for SFS members driving to Cavalier in winter conditions, as well as Honor Guard members performing funeral services. It also has the ability to be implemented into portions of FTAC, briefed at Newcomer's, and at the annual Year End Training Initiative (YETI). As well as provide a service for new civilian hires and dependents who have never driven in Winter Driving Conditions, especially the extreme winter that is often found in North Dakota. The requirements listed below were decided upon after communicating with Minot AFB and Malmstrom AFB who both provide similar services to their base personnel. If the simulator isn't funded, it could lead to an increase in vehicle related mishaps in the winter, which can drive negative effects to the Installation's different mission sets.
