Salient Characteristics for
60 MXS/MXMD
RF Signal Generator for Spectrum Analyzer calibration
60 MXS / MXMD requires a replacement RF Signal Generator to provide automated calibration support for Spectrum Analyzers certified by Travis AFB PMEL.
The contractor shall provide the following:
RF Signal Generator
- The RF Signal Generator shall have a frequency range of no less than 250 kHz to 50
GHz; the primary external connection shall be a 2.4 mm APC, no deviations will be accepted
- The RF Signal Generator shall have internal oscillator accuracy of no less than 10 MHz +/- 1 X 10 -7
- The RF Signal Generator shall be capable of outputting and receiving a 10 MHz timebase signal through a rear mounted BNC connector
- The RF Signal Generator shall produce a leveled continuous wave (CW) output of no less than 14 dBm across the entire frequency span
- The RF Signal Generator shall be equipped with a precision step attenuator capable of producing warranted power levels at or below – 120 dBm. Additionally the RF Signal Generator shall be capable of amplitude adjustment in steps of no less than 0.01 dB, suitable for frequency response verification utilizing power splitter w/ power sensor methodology across its’ entire frequency range.
- The RF Signal Generator shall have sufficient spectral purity to prevent unwanted spurious, harmonic, or non-harmonic signals to be present that would be undesirable for validating frequency response, second harmonic intercept, third order intermodulation, and noise sideband measurements o From 2 GHz to 50 GHz, the Signal Generator shall not produce harmonics greater than -55 dBc. From 2 GHz to 50 GHz, the Signal Generator shall not produce sub-harmonics greater than -50 dBc. Non-harmonics > -50 dBc at or below 40 GHz will not be accepted. Single Sideband Phase Noise (SSBPN) from 10 MHz to > 2GHz shall not exceed 110 dBc at all measured offsets >/= 1 kHz. SSBPN from 2 GHz to 20 GHz shall not exceed -95 at all measured offsets >/ = 1 kHz
- The RF Signal Generator shall be specifically be equipped with an ultra-low Single Sideband Phase Noise option o Minimum SSBPN specifications with a 1 GHz carrier shall meet or exceed the following: -90 dBc @ 10 Hz offset, -100 dBc @ 100 Hz offset, -120 dBc @ 1kHz offset, -130 dBc > or = 10 kHz offset
- The RF Signal Generator shall include provisions for analog modulation: AM, FM, and Phase Modulation
- The RF Signal Generator shall be equipped with an industry standard GPIB/IEEE
- The RF Signal Generator procurement shall include a minimum warranty period of 10 years, which covers repair/replacement of any defective components, or performance failure within the effective period
- The RF Signal Generator procurement shall include an annual return to manufacturer certification plan + uncertainties for 10 years. This service shall include with it an ISO- 17025 compliant calibration certificate, and include any adjustments to nominal OEM specs as required
- The RF Signal Generator shall be furnished with any necessary torque limiting devices, or sacrificial connectors required to safely use the item
- The RF Signal Generator shall be furnished with the required accessories to neatly, and professionally mount the item in a rack/calibration console
- The RF Signal Generator shall be shipped with a current accredited ISO-17025 calibration certificate
- Due to the exacting specifications required, an example of a suitable generator is as follows: Keysight E8257D opt 550, 1E1, UNY, UNT, 1EH with the aforementioned connectors, rack mount flange and handle kit, 10 year extended warranty, and 10 year calibration plan OR equivalent
Special Requirements:
- The replacement item shall be safely and securely packaged, and shipped to the 60th Maintenance Squadron via traceable mean in a timely manner once the contract is awarded. The time between contract award, and delivery of the item shall not exceed 145 days.
