High Speed Digital Camera

Statement of Work

For

Ranges Section/Space Test Branch (TDS)

1.0 PURPOSE

The Ranges Section mission is to provide timely, disciplined, defensable, and relevant test and evaluation capabilities in support of Hypersonics, Missile Defense, and Nuclear Modernization national priorities. The Ranges Test Section is assigned to the Space Test Branch, Test Division, Arnold AFB, TN. The Ranges Section operates Ranges G, I and S-1 providing hypervelocity flyout, impact, and lethality test and evaluation.

The Ranges Section requires these high speed digital cameras in support of the increased operations pace or Range G, I and S-1. These ranges provide world unique launch, impact, and recovery capabilities to provide safe, efficient, and controlled data collection used to validate models and simulations. The high frame rates and resolutions are required to ensure safe and effective operations within these national assets. Many of the tests performed in these hypervelocity ranges could not be replicated safely in the real world, but are required to ensure mission effectiveness of national defense systems.. A crucial component to operating and assessing effectiveness of hypervelocity ranges are our large suite of Vision Research high speed cameras. These cameras that collect well over 50,000 frames per second ensure the required data is collected while integrating with the remaining suite of cameras that are utilized within the ranges section.
