Statement of Work:

Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and supplies to perform the following work for U. S.

Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Laboratory, 21 Dunbar Road, Byron, Georgia 31008

All work shall be completed in accordance with all local, state, and federal codes and regulations. All work shall also meet the requirements of the ARS Facilities and Design Standards (P&P 242.1). The P&P 242.1 document can be found at: http://www.afm.ars.usda.gov/ppweb/PDF/242‐01M.pdf.

All work shall be accomplished in a professional manner and in accordance with good workmanship and acceptable practice.

Contractor is responsible for inspecting the site and for determining the exact requirements of the project.

Contractor’s working hours shall be scheduled to coincide with the normal working hours (7am‐4pm) at the site. Should it be necessary to schedule working hours other than normal working hours, contractor shall arrange for access to the work area with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) at the site at least three days prior to the need.

Project:

Replacement of the copper water piping for the four research greenhouses.

The Contractor shall:

1. Demo and replace approximately 1,200 feet of 1” copper piping with 1” CPVC piping within four greenhouses.

2. Replace exterior water services at all four greenhouses back to copper main tie‐in.

3. Replace valves and valve boxes at all four greenhouses.

4. Repair leaks as found in greenhouses.

5. Install fiberglass insulation with metal jacket on all 1,200 feet of new piping within all four greenhouses.

Site Visit:

Contractors must visit the site and be escorted by a government representative to confirm locations, dimensions, and conditions of the project before a quote is submitted. The site visit shall be for observing firsthand any conditions relevant to the completion of this project. No consideration will be given to claims based on lack of knowledge of existing conditions, except where contract documents make definite provisions for adjustment in cost or extension due to existing conditions not readily foreseeable.

Contractor must be registered in System for Award Management, (SAM), prior to submitting a bid.

Safety: The contractor is responsible for complying with all local, state and federal safety codes and laws.

Detailed Quote: Provide all materials, labor, and equipment in order to fully and successfully complete the Statement of Work described in this document. Quotes shall be presented on a SF18 Request for

Quote.

Contractor Responsibility:

The project has a base bid to be performed per the following specifications:

1. Contractor will verify all equipment, dimensions and existing site conditions covered in their report.

2. Contractor is required to manage the project and consult with the Government prior to beginning all work phases. And, to work in a manner that minimizes the impact of the work on Government operations, research, and functions.

3. All work must be performed in such a manner as to not adversely affect daily operations of the facility, its workers, and the onsite facility operations.

Installation Procedure:

Contractor will verify all dimensions and site conditions prior to beginning work. Contractor will schedule the work between working hours as listed below. Contractor is required to provide labor, specified material, equipment, and other tools required to perform the job fully and completely. No Government equipment will be available for use by the contractor. The contractor shall be responsible for protecting his work at all times and ensuring the safety of his crew and ARS employees. Upon completion of the project, the contractor shall remove from the premises all accumulated materials and rubbish caused by the project. All disturbed grounds shall be leveled that is free of dips and mounds. A ground cover with a vegetative component shall be installed where exposed dirt is remaining. Premises shall be left in a clean, orderly, and acceptable condition.

Project Schedule:

The completion of this project shall not exceed 15 days from date of notice to proceed. A request for time extension must be submitted to the Purchasing Agent in writing. Each request must include specific and detailed reasons in support of the schedule alteration.

Work Hours:

Contractor work hours shall be Monday through Friday, seven (7) A.M. to four (4) P.M. except for Government holidays or as otherwise arranged with the site personnel in advance.
