About this file

This document outlines technical specifications for a multi-instrument measurement and control system to be procured by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The system must include four independent input and output channels capable of functions including lock-in amplification, closed-loop feedback, arbitrary waveform generation, and noise spectral analysis. It shall integrate the following instrument modules: oscilloscope, phasemeter, waveform generator, arbitrary waveform generator, digital filter, spectrum analyzer, proportional-integral-derivative controller, data logger, and frequency analyzer. The system must also allow custom instrumentation modules to be written and compiled for use. Delivery of one Moku Pro Full Suite Bundle is required within two weeks to the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with one week allotted for acceptance inspection and verification that requirements are met. A three-year warranty is customary.

Technical Specifications for a Multi-Instrument Measurement and Control System (Multi-Instrument)

Background

The Biophysical and Biomedical Measurement Group (681.05) requires a multi-instrument measurement and control system (multi-instrument) to perform real-time field-effect transistor (FET) measurements of biomolecules. The system should comprise of four independent input and output channels and capable of supporting multiple instrument functions including lock-in amplification, closed-loop feedback, arbitrary waveform generation and noise spectral analysis. The system must be fully self-contained and include all hardware to allow comprehensive device testing. The delivered system must be complete, provided by one vendor, and meet all the minimum specifications described below.

Minimum Specifications

1. General Specifications

a. External trigger

b. Coaxial analog input and analog output connectors.

c. Option to connect to the instrument via WiFi, Ethernet and USB.

2. Analog Inputs

a. 4 analog inputs with a bandwidth of 300 MHz per channel.

b. Sampling rate of 1.25 GSa/s per channel.

c. Analog to digital converter (ADC) resolution of 18-bits or better.

3. Analog Outputs

a. 4 analog outputs with a bandwidth of 500 MHz per channel.

b. Sampling 1.25 GSa/s per channel.

c. Digital to analog converter (DAC) resolution of at least 16-bit.

4. Available Instruments and Software

a. The system shall include the following instrument modules: oscilloscope, phasemeter, waveform generator and arbitrary waveform generator, digital filter, spectrum analyzer, proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller, data logger, spectrum analyzer, laser lock box and frequency analyzer.

b. The ability to include up to four instruments in a multi-instrument measurement.

c. The ability to write and compile custom instrumentation modules for use with the built-in instrumentation.

d. The ability to operate the system with user-written computer code computing languages such as Python and/or MatLab.

Multi-Instrument Brand Name or Equal to:

· Moku Pro Full Suite Bundle (Qty. 1)

Delivery

Delivery shall be FOB DESTINATION and take place (2) weeks from ARO or sooner. NIST Building 301, Shipping and Receiving 100 Bureau Drive Gaithersburg, MD 20899

Installation

No installation is required.

Testing and Acceptance

Inspection will occur at NIST. We will check the multi-instrument and verify that it meets all the minimum requirements. Verify system integration. 1 week for acceptance.
