REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)

Air Combat Command (ACC) 325th Contracting Squadron Tyndall AFB, FL AGTS-36 Aerial Gunnery Target System Description The Fighter Wing Squadron (FWS/FWI) requires the purchase of the following item: AGTS Visual Targets (non-scoring), P/N: 608280-1.

THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes – it does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a promise to issue an RFQ in the future. This RFI does not commit the Government to contract for any service whatsoever. Further, the Air Force is not at this time seeking quotes and will not accept unsolicited quotes. Responders are advised that the U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party’s expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFQ, if any is issued.

BACKGROUND

The AGTS-36 system meets all aerial gunnery training requirements of a modern fighter aircraft. In volume production, it is the standard gunnery target for the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard as well as the Japanese, South Korea, and Taiwan (RM-30B) Defense Forces. With 6g maneuver capability, tow aircraft are able to execute all typical high-performance combat profiles such as figure eight, butterfly, and high-angle combat dart, as well as basic racetrack patterns. The TDK-39 Target set includes advanced Doppler Radar Scoring (RADOPS) installed in the target's fore body featuring a self-contained telemetry transmitter and antenna. The airborne receiving station is installed in the tow aircraft reeling machine and scores are displayed in real time to the tow pilot for transmission to the shooter after each firing pass. The TDK-39 Aerial Gunnery Tow Target was developed to replace the TDU-10 Dart target and A/A37U-33 (SECAPEM 90B) target for the purpose of providing a gunnery target that is compatible with the operating airspeeds and maneuver capabilities of modern fighter aircraft.
