SPECIAL NOTICE

SONIC DRILL RIG RETROFIT

PURPOSE:

The Bureau of Reclamation Provo Area Office has a need to retrofit an existing 2005 Gus Pech 3000 CHR drill rig to operate a sonic drill head. An additional backup sonic drill head is also required. Two sizes of metal casing and core barrel material to work with the sonic rig are also required. The drill rig was previously purchased directly from Gus Pech as a custom rotary drill rig.

COMPETITION:

The requirement shall be sole sourced to Gus Pech Manufacturing Company, Inc. due to the proprietary nature of the hydraulic control system, mast carrier, and accessories incorporated in the existing 2005 Gus Pech 3000 CHR drill rig.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The supplier shall provide a fixed cost to perform the following:

1. Retrofit existing Gus Pech drill for installation and operation of a Sonic Drilling Corp SONICOR 50 K sonic drilling head. Provide new Sonic Drilling Corp SONICOR 50k drilling head. Work shall include removing and installing new hydraulic lines and controls to accommodate the new sonic drill head. A custom top head carriage shall be fabricated and installed to fit the sonic head to the existing mast carriage. The existing welder on the drill rig bed and other ancillary equipment shall be relocated to allow the installation of a new 20-foot rod box. Provide new 8-foot aluminum sonic rod platform off the back of the rig for sonic drilling and heavy duty breakout wrench system with hands free spinner. The supplier shall provide training on the operation of the new sonic head to the Reclamation Drill crew members at the Pleasant Grove, Utah drill office.

2. Provide a new Sonic Drilling Corp SONICOR 50 K drilling head backup up assembly that will operate from the retrofitted hydraulics and frequency controls.

3. Provide the following 7 X 8 casing and core barrel materials:

The NAICS code for this project was 333132 with a small business size standard of 1250 employees.

RESPONSES:

Any responses received under this special notice will be used for market research purposes only for future same or similar acquisition requirements. Please respond no later than Friday June 20, 2016.
