I. The autodialer shall have 2 messages for level 2 sensor alarm. One message shall indicate system running normal and cannot maintain clean the trash rack. The other message shall indicate that due to operator input error, selector switch set but no motor initiation, level 2 alarm has occurred.
J. The autodialer shall also initiate if there is a power failure, giving appropriate message.
K. All timer, interval, and speed values necessary for system control and monitoring shall be user input through the programmable touch panel.
L. The motor drive shall provide alarm conditions to the PLC upon initiation of shutdown or other adverse condition. PLC shall initiate autodialer upon such conditions.
M. The water differential system shall provide real-time water level values to the PLC/user interface. The Contractor shall coordinate with the end user for desired units of measure.
Performance And Design Requirements
A. All components shall be balanced so that jamming at any point will not result in structural failure or tipping of the unit. Provide safety interlocks that will prevent the drive motor from stalling.
B. The rake system shall be inherently stable under unbalanced loads and under external design forces, including wind and seismic. The rake trolley unit shall include integral counter weights that offset unbalanced loads associated with the operation of the rake. The rake trolley unit shall include locking devices that transfer overturning forces to the rails for loading combinations that result in overturning safety margin of less than or equal to 2.
C. All components, including the gear reducer, shall be designed to withstand, without damage or permanent distortion, the full stalling torque of the drive motor.
D. All mechanical components shall be readily accessible for maintenance.
E. The trash rake system shall have a minimum lifting capacity of 4,000 lbs. The trash rake system shall be able to clean the trash racks and traverse in wind speeds of up to 70 MPH. The trash rake system shall be designed to withstand 181 mph wind speed, and Exposure “C” parked. Assume 4000psi compressive strength of existing concrete.
F. It is anticipated that the trash rake system can be supported on the existing trash bridge. The footings shall be designed for all operational and gravity loads (dead and live loads), a 181 mph wind speed, and Exposure “C”.
Page 15 of 27 (revised) Attachment A
G. The structural steel frame elements shall be designed in accordance with industry standard design methodologies. The loading shall account for all site conditions, lines, grades, adjacent site features and structures to remain, and the requirements for the trash rake system operation.
H. Coatings / Paint: All exterior / exposed components and equipment without factory finish, whether exposed to water or direct or ultra-violet light.
Items to be coated Manufacture Supplied: coupling housings, pillow-block bearing housings, gearboxes, instrumentation cases, electrical boxes and other associated equipment.
NOTE: Do not paint gear teeth, bolt threads, brass, bronze, stainless steel, galvanized surfaces, seal and bearing contact surfaces, mating machined surfaces, seals, wire rope sockets and pins, and sections of shaft internal to gear reducers.
Manufactures coating system:
1. Factory's standard surface preparation and permanent coating system.
2. Items subject to sunlight are to be top coated with ultraviolet (UV) stable materials.
3. Color and gloss: ANSI #70 light gray or Munsell 5BG 7/0.4, in gloss or semi-gloss.
4. Unless otherwise specified, unexposed surfaces that require coatings, such as interior of cabinets, enclosures, and equipment, are be given the factory’s standard permanent coated finish.
Material
A. Rake unit construction materials shall be as follows:
1. Rake Boom - Hot-dip zinc galvanized steel.
2. Rake – Hot-dip zinc galvanized steel.
3. Raker trolley unit frame - Carbon Steel, ASTM A 36/A 36M, minimum.
4. Rake trolley unit housing – Sheet metal with a powder coating
5. Sprockets – carbon steel
6. Submerged Bearings – carbon steel, water lubricated, babbitt, or Ryertex, with grease fitting.
