PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

FOR

Selective LASER Sintering Digital polymer Mfg. System

MXSG

1.0. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS

Turnkey solution for a Selective LASER Sintering Digital polymer Mfg. System for the Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC) Innovation Center.

1.1. PRINTER AND ACCESSORIES SPECIFICATIONS

The Select Laser Sintering(SLS) printer and associated equipment shall meet the following specifications and possess the following capabilities: It is understood that all equipment and software required to produce finished parts will be included as part of this package. The intent is to have a system that allows for modular build chambers and capable of printing a minimum of 3 different materials on one SLS system supported by necessary ancillary equipment. The intent is to have a system that has the capability to print nylons, elastomers, polypropylene and Polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family materials.

· SLS System

· System uses SLS technology

· System must be new

· Utilizes multiple independently controlled heating zones for the build chamber

· Minimum build chamber volume of 80 liters with each x,y,z build direction being no less than 400mm.

· Build monitoring technology for real-time thermal analysis of the build

· Build chamber must be capable of maintaining a 300 degree C minimum processing temperature

· Utilizes an enclosed build chamber

· Minimum of 120W CO2 Laser

· Build rate of printer should be a minimum of 20 mm/hr

· Laser scan speed during build process shall be capable of a minimum of 12 m/s

· Able to achieve a layer thickness down to 0.1mm

· Utilizes a roller type recoating system

· System must have modular build chambers – provide 3 build chambers in proposal

· System must allow for the ability to edit all process parameters

· Include machine specific material process parameters sets for a minimum of 3 different materials [Nylon 12 (polyamide 12), Polypropylene, a PAEK family material]

· Include licensed file processing software to operate the machine – software must be able to operate without internet connection.

· Supplier to include training for the software - 5 individuals

· Include a minimum of 100 kg of a Polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family material. Quantity of material must be sufficient for contractor to demonstrate capability of the proposed system with this material during the initial set-up and necessary verification runs.

· Include a minimum of 1000 kg of a non-filled Polyamide Nylon 12 material.

· Following equipment installation; provide full training for 5 individuals of printer, and all ancillary equipment operation.

· Required ancillary equipment - NOTE: Utilities available in facility are: (110V Single Phase AC power, 208V 3 Phase AC power, compressed air at 110 psi, potable water, temperature controlled facility)

· Nitrogen generator based system – Purity up to 99.5% or better. Must be sized to meet:

· A minimum continuous flow of 20Lpm.

· Purge requirements: 165 Lpm at 1.03bar (15 psi) for a minimum of 30 minutes twice a day.

· Transformer(s) to convert available 208V 3 phase AC to equipment operating voltage.

· As necessary, ancillary equipment to be included as needed to meet intended fully functional solution:

· Proposal needs to include any tools and additional equipment to prepare print files, operate the SLS machine and ancillary equipment, prepare material for prints, material change over and post process of prints. Proposal must include all items necessary to be a “turnkey” solution to deliver a fully operational system from importing part file to finished part. NOTE: Utilities available in facility are: (110V Single Phase AC power, 208V 3 Phase AC power, compressed air at 110 psi, potable water, temperature controlled facility)

· Examples of necessary accessory equipment but not limited to (propose as appropriate for proposed equipment solution; size ancillary equipment to support build chamber of proposed SLS system):

· Cleaning Booth

· Media Blast Booth

· Material recycling and handling system

· Mixing station

· Breakout station

· Lift Trolley

· Dust extraction

· HEPA Vacuum system

· Chiller/heat exchanger

· Any fluids/powders/etc for initial startup supporting ancillary equipment

· Material Storage containers

· One high end laptop computer. Laptop shall meet or exceed the following key specifications:

· Windows 10 Pro

· One license of Solidworks 2020 Premium

· Minimum 64GB DDR4 RAM

· NVIDIA graphics card. Quadro p5200 16GB GDDR5 VRAM Dedicated or better

· 6 Core CPU 9th generation Intel processor with 2.6 GHz base frequency up to 4.6 GHz with turbo boost 12 MB Cache or better

· Minimum of 1 TB HD solid state drive (SSD)

· DVD Read/Write capability

· Dual band wireless card with Bluetooth capability

· Display size 17” or greater

· Smart Card Reader

· Wireless Mouse

· Contractor responsible for initial startup, functional validation, and operational testing of SLS System and all ancillary equipment.

· Government will make all utility connections to the provided equipment.

1.2. CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENTS

1.2.1. Delivery

The contractor shall deliver the equipment to the following address located at Hill Air Force Base:

1.2.2. Warranty

The contractor shall provide a minimum 1 year warranty which warrants all products provided under this contract, under normal use, are free from defects in materials and workmanship and that the system will perform its design function for a period of no less than one (1) year. Warranty period to start from date of final acceptance of each system. Any defects in materials or workmanship or failure of any product or component to perform its designed function during the warranty period shall be fixed by the contactor at no additional cost to the Government. Warranty shall include the cost(s) of, parts, shipping, labor and any travel related expenses. Warranty repairs which present a safety hazard are to be repaired within 7 calendar days of notice of failure. Non-safety related warranty repairs are to be fixed within 15 calendar days of notice of failure.
