PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
FOR
Electronic Height Gage
1. SCOPE: This purchase description specifies the requirement for an Electronic Height Gage (EHG).
This EHG will be used in the calibration of surface geometry of precision fixtures and precision measuring equipment. The EHG will consist of an electronic amplifier with an analog resolution meter, Mahr 2400 Height Stand compatibility accessories, one lever type gage head, and one cartridge type gage head.
2. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: The EHG shall include the following characteristics:
2.1. Electronic Amplifier with an Analog Resolution Meter: The EHG shall have an analog display.
2.2. Range: The Electronic Amplifier shall have at the minimum the following measuring ranges: +/-
0.004 inch, +/- 0.001 inch and +/- 0.0002 inch. Equivalent metric ranges of +/- 100 micrometer, +/- 20 micrometer, and +/- 10 micrometer shall also be provided.
2.3. Resolution: The resolution for the corresponding ranges shall have at the minimum the following: 0.0002, 0.00005, and 0.00001 inch. Equivalent metric resolutions of 5 micrometer, 1 micrometer, and 0.5 micrometer shall also be provided.
2.4. Repeatability: The EHG shall have a repeatability of 2 microinches or 1/2 of a division, whichever is greater.
2.5. Correlation of Scales: The amplifier shall maintain the reference measurement when switching between scale ranges.
2.6. Measurement Uncertainty: The measurement uncertainty of the amplifier and gage head combined shall not exceed +/- 1 division or better (at a 95% confidence level) for each measuring range.
2.7. Control Knobs: The control knobs shall be front-mounted controls. There shall be a master On-
Off switch, Range Selector, Low Battery Indicator, Charger Input, and Analog Output.
2.8. There shall be two Gage Head Inputs, each with a Gage Head On/Off Switch, Gage Head Polarity
Switch, Zero-Setting Potentiometer, and Gage Head Calibration Adjustment.
2.9. Zero-Setting Potentiometer: The Zero-Setting Potentiometer shall have a manual adjustment range of +/- 0.001 inch. One revolution shall have a movement of a minimum of 0.0001 inch.
3. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
3.1. Portability: The EHG shall be portable and shall have a tilt base for best viewing angle of analog meter.
3.2. Amplifier Dimensions: The EHG amplifier shall have dimensions not to exceed 10 inches by 8 inches by 10 inches (length, width, height).
3.3. Electrical Power with Optional Battery Operated Power: The Electronic Amplifier shall operate using electrical AC power with the ability to operate using optional battery power. Electronic
Amplifier shall be operational using electrical AC power if battery power is low or completely dead.
3.4. Battery/Charging: The internal battery shall be charged by using the AC without removing/disconnecting the battery. The battery will require a maximum of 16 hours to achieve full charge with the power switch in the “Off” position. The amplifier will monitor the battery’s charge and indicate a low battery. From a fully charged battery, the amplifier is capable of continuous operation for a minimum of 8 hours. The battery shall be easily replaced with a new battery using quick wire disconnect connector.
4. ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT:
Rev 2
4.1. Gage Head: Two gage heads shall be provided with the EHG. One lever type gage head and one in-line cartridge type gage head shall be capable of producing the above stated measurement uncertainty in paragraph 2.6. Each gage head shall come with a minimum of 5 feet of cable and connector. The gage head range shall be the same or greater than the range of the amplifier.
4.1.1. Gage Head, Lever: The Lever Type Gage Head shall have an involute tip stylus that can be set to 20 degrees from centerline of the head and have a gaging pressure not to exceed 12 grams, on the tip, in either direction.
4.1.1.1. Reversing Switch: The Lever Type Gage Head shall have a reversing switch located on the head, so it can be used in either direction.
4.1.1.2. Involute Stylus: The EHG shall include two involute styluses, a one inch length stylus and a two inch length stylus.
4.1.1.3. Gage Head Mount: The Gage Head shall have the ability to mount to a Mahr 2400
Height Stand with adjustable arm assembly either directly or with an accessory adapter.
All accessories for securing the gage head to a Mahr 2400 Height Stand shall be provided. The mount for the Gage Head shall be in the rear of the gage with a lug adaptor to secure post in any rotational direction
4.1.2. Gage Head, Cartridge Type: The Cartridge Type Gage Head shall also have a gaging pressure not to exceed 35 grams on the tip, in either direction.
4.1.2.1. Gage Head Mount: The Gage Head shall have the ability to mount to a Mahr 2400
Height Stand with adjustable arm assembly either directly or with an accessory adapter.
All accessories for securing the gage head to a Mahr 2400 Height Stand shall be provided.
4.2. Power Equipment: The EHG shall include:
4.2.1. Battery
4.2.2. AC Power Adapter for when the battery is not being used.
5. MECHANICAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
