About this file

This purchase description outlines requirements for an automated liquid dispensing device to support a neurodegenerative disease initiative. The National Institutes of Health National Institute on Drug Abuse requires an instrument with a small footprint capable of non-contact liquid dispensing into microplates and vials in volumes from 100 nL to high volumes through a continuous flow option. The device must dispense reagents, cells, and beads with appropriate low dead volume and fast dispensing speeds. Delivery is required within three months of order receipt, and the manufacturer warranty shall be one year from delivery date.

The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation posted by the Department of Health and Human Services for solicitation number 75N95023Q00442 to procure the automated liquid dispensing device as described in the purchase description.

PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

1. Statement of Need and Purpose: This acquisition is necessary for automation of the culture techniques used in the iPSC Neurodegenerative Diseases Initiative (INDI) Project within the new Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.

2. Background Information and Objective: imaging technology improves to capture The Government is working to create a national resource of isogenic sets of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias mutated iPSC lines, complimented by foundational phenotypic datasets from differentiated disease-relevant cells derived from these lines.

This resource will substantially accelerate the pace of mechanistic discovery regarding how ADRD mutations cause disease. An automated liquid dispensing device is needed to create a high through put workflow for processing tissue culture cells to enable genetically engineered iPSCs.
