PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
Marine Corp Air Station (MCAS) Yuma Microwave Backbone Upgrade (FY17P36)
1 INTRODUCTION
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division (NSWC CORDIV), Range Systems Department RS14, requires microwave radio communications hardware and associated equipment in support of the Systems Replacement and Modernization (SRAM) Program. The material sought in this procurement is required at MCAS Yuma and is part of the South West Tactical Training Range (SWTTR) microwave backbone equipment upgrade.
2 BACKGROUND
The SWTTR microwave backbone is utilized to transmit data between various locations within that region of operation. The microwave units and other components have exceeded their functional lifecycle due to age and, as a result, reliability of data transmissions has degraded over time.
Additionally, other portions of the microwave backbone network have been upgraded to newer equipment. This particular effort is required in order to modernize older portions of the microwave backbone network.
In order to accomplish this task SWTTR personnel have initiated a plan to transition their existing Aviat outdoor unit solution with new indoor equipment and has changed their operating frequencies to comply with Spectrum Management planning and NTIA. As other portions of the network have previously been upgraded to Aviat hardware for the reasons listed, this will not only accomplish the goal of replacing aging equipment with new elements, but also allows for equipment consistency and commonality in network management techniques at all points within the system.
This particular effort is for the purchase of microwave link equipment for NAF El Centro Building 5000 to Building 524 and Telegraph Pass to MCAS Yuma Building 405; for the latter, installation is also required.
