Amendment 2 Attachment 1
Question #1: Can you please provide photos of the space for those who were unable to attend the site visit?
Answer: No, but the space is well represented in the last few pages of the Design Plan.
Question #2: Will the contractor need to integrate retail displays into the exhibit design?
Answer: There is retail space but will be moved around to accommodate exhibits, the main retail space is off to one side that is not included in the exhibit area.
Question #3: There is no mention of a construction budget. Does the NPS have a budget for this project? If so, can you provide one so that we can estimate our design and installation fees in relation to construction?
Answer: This is not a construction project. It only involves finalizing the design, fabrication and installation.
Question #4: Does the contractor need to fabricate all the items in the space or can we contract out the specialty fabrication items to a sub-contractor? If so, does that sub-contractor need to be GSA approved?
Answer: You are not required to fabricate the items on-site and the only requirement(s) is that they are american-made and approved before installation.
Question # 5: What is the production budget?
Answer: That information is not available.
Question #6: Who did the attached Design Plan?
Answer: That information is not available.
Question #7: Is the Design Plan representative of some options for the design or is it the basis for the final design work done under this contract?
Answer: It is fairly accurate as to our final vision
Question #8: Please verify if the Contractor’s scope of work includes all of the tasks and deliverables listed in the PWS under Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Content Specialties, Pre- Production, Production, Installation and Closeout.
Answer: We expect to see the design of each exhibit component ie. ( red mangrove tree, various marine and wildlife, birds etc.) and styles of interpretive text panels to be chosen, then fabrication of all elements and components and installation of same.
Question #9: Please explain what is meant by the following statement from the PWS: “The Design Plan will be provided to the contractor. Exact renderings, samples of material to be used, electric and structural specifications will be provided in advance of fabrication.”
Answer: These are the drawings that are provided. We do not anticipate any electrical or structural changes. The ceiling has 2x6 trusses every 2 feet and the drywall on the ceiling is right against the trusses. So the objects and the acoustic panels may be hung from them. But of course weight must be considered.
Question #10: Will the Contractor be responsible for the removal and disposal of the existing exhibit elements (older dioramas and touch/explore station)?
Answer: No
Question #11: What are the sizes of the existing artwork items? What are the images?
Answer: The artwork ranges from 4’x6’ to 4’x8’. There are six. These will remain as part of the exhibit, interpretive panels for the artwork is part of this request.

Question #14: Please explain what is meant by “Life-cycle cost goals for ongoing operational expenses and cyclical maintenance costs for the exhibition” and what the expectation is for that deliverable?
Answer: How much does it costs to maintain the item, or how long will it last before it needs to be replaced.
