5.2 Exhibit Areas. Photographs, Text and Graphics: there are several different types of graphic processes utilized in the Visitor Center Exhibits and specific cleaning requirements are as follows:
a. The majority of the graphic panels are produced with a process called Digital High Pressure Laminate. The images and text contained within this product is a high resolution Inkjet print that has been impregnated into the surface of the high pressure laminate. This material can be washed with a diluted concentration of “Joy” dishwashing liquid and water. Do not use any abrasives, as this can scuff or “mar” the surface over time and degrade the image quality.
b. In General: All graphic and photographic surfaces may be dusted with a soft cloth or cleaned with Brillianize and WypAlls (both products available through local distributors) and the Contractor will provide this cleaning material. Do not clean with any liquid cleaner or glass cleaner, as the solvents can “craze” or “fog” the surface of the over laminate material. If necessary, they can be washed with a diluted concentration of “Joy” dishwashing liquid and water, using a WypAll cloth to clean the surface. Using Brillianize in a regular schedule will reduce static and keep the graphics looking good.
c. Glass: Special caution will be required when cleaning Glass Display Exhibits.
While ordinary glass cleaner will work for the surface, care must be taken not to “overspray” the cleaner onto nearby surfaces, including the graphics and pushbuttons and trim. The approved method will be to spray the cloth and wipe the glass, as opposed to spraying onto the glass surface.
d. Monitors: All monitors susceptible to damage if sprayed with any liquid.
Only dust or wipe with a clean cloth and Brillianize.
