VDOT Road and Bridge Specification 2007 Excerpts

Crusher run will comply with Subsection 205.02(b)

205.02—Materials Crusher run aggregate shall be crushed from stone, slag, or gravel and shall contain all of the sizes produced when the original aggregate is reduced through a series of crushers to the maximum size specified.

(b) Crushed gravel shall consist of particles of which at least 90 percent by weight of material retained on the No. 10 sieve shall have at least one face fractured by artificial crushing.

Rip-Rap will comply with Subsection 414.03(f)

414.03(f) Erosion Control Rip-Rap: Riprap shall consist of sound, non-erodible shot rock or rock excavation. Erosion control riprap rock shall be not more than 15 inches in its greatest dimension and shall contain a sufficient percentage of smaller rocks to provide a reasonably dense mass with a thickness of at least 8 inches.

Material Amounts:

600 tons of crusher run and 1200 tons of rip-rap will be needed.

Delivery Location:

1/10th of a mile past 668 CC Camp Lane Woolwine, Virginia 24185. This location is the lower entrance/ parking area to the NPS’s Rock Castle Gorge backcountry camp ground.

Delivery Period:

Delivery is expected to begin June 2016 and run through August 2016 There is limited storage available at this location therefore the delivery of materials will need to be on an incremental basis. Delivery schedules will be agreed upon by both the NPS and contractor at beginning of deliveries. A general guideline would be approximately 8 loads per work week beginning with the rip rap and ending with the crusher run. Adverse weather may change delivery needs and changes will be agreed upon by NPS and contractor.
