Pre-Solicitation Meeting – WATER TANKS
1. Introductions / Roles and Responsibilities

3. GRSM Special Issues
a. Safety – wildlife, worksite, visitor, motorist
b. Communications – cell phones have limited coverage in the park
c. Environmental Topics– it’s a park, respect it as such
· Prevention of exotic weeds; clean equipment before bringing it into Park
· Cultural Resources – It is a historic district – archaeologist will be onsite during work.
· Natural Resources - Wildlife (bear management issues))
· Erosion control, Mulch, use of straw bales/straw mulch is not permitted for use in the park
· Food storage (lunch) – pack it in, pack it out, secure all food in a cab of a vehicle or equipment; do not store coolers in the beds of trucks, do not discard food waste in construction dumpsters. Remove food waste, wraps daily from the construction site
· Construction debris shall be removed from the park
· Spill Kits and pollution prevention
d. Law Enforcement – Expectations are contractor complies with all motor vehicle regulations and laws. Trucks to enter through closest entrance. No special provisions because your working for the Park.
e. Firearms – No carrying firearms while working
f. Inclement Weather Access – Access will not be permitted until snow removal NPS snow removal operations are complete unless otherwise stated
g. Progress meetings identify a reoccurring day that works for all parties and time (determine meeting frequency, weekly or bi-weekly). – Only required if project falls behind Additional Comments at Site Visit
· Summary of Work specifications all have a reference to Metcalf Bottoms in the “Work to be performed by Contractor” Section. The work in any given specification is accurate according to the location as listed in title of spec.
· Work may begin at any time after Notice to Proceed, however, water service is not to be interrupted and Metcalf Bottoms cannot begin until mid-November.
· Gravel for Road – You are allowed to gravel access roads – Gravel must be from approved source (potential invasive species)
· Trees are allowed to remain onsite as long as fallen trees look natural and are not hazardous
· Fence at Cosby Tank can be taken down.
· Explained Chimneys Existing tank may be moved but not demolished until repairs to concrete tank are successful.
· Excess spoil can be wasted on sites, or hauled off, Elkmont Campground has a location we can dump excess soil.
