Vendor Questions & Answers
How are the components getting from the receiving area to the site? Components will go from receiving to work site via trailer and hand carry.
What are the largest dimensions that can be transported? Max length is 50 feet.
What is the maximum weight of any individual component? Max weight for one piece is 150 lbs.
What kind of labor will be available for the installation? In other words, are fewer parts more desirable than a lot of bolting, or will there be plenty of hands available but very little equipment? An NPS Trail Crew will install. More pieces are desirable to reduce rigging and need for equipment.
Do you have any pictures of the actual site? Picture of site attached. Ice covers present 40 foot bridge thus the need for longer and higher.
How critical is meeting the exact date on the specification? The date on the specification is desired due to a short construction season in 2015.
All bridges shall be designed for a minimum wind load of 25 psf. The wind is calculated on the entire vertical surface of the bridge as if fully enclosed.
Deflection:
Live Load (LL) deflection = L/240 Vertical Frequency (fn): = 5.0 Hz The fundamental frequency of the pedestrian bridge (in the vertical direction) without live load should be greater than 5.0 hertz (Hz) to avoid any issues with the first and second harmonics. Horizontal Frequency (fn): = 3.0 Hz The fundamental frequency of the pedestrian bridge (in the horizontal direction) without live load should be greater than 3.0 hertz (Hz) to avoid any issues due to side to side motion involving the first and second harmonics.
U truss design where the truss system also is the guardrail. This creates a lower profile that a large truss system under the walking surface.
The delivery site is paved and accessible by a semi flatbed trailer.

Pieces are to be less 50' and less than 200 lbs.
