About this file

This is a Sources Sought notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs seeking information from potential suppliers of patient safe handling and repositioning slings for the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. The VA requires 275 standard size (45" X 100") and 28 bariatric size (50" X 100") turning and repositioning slings to maintain compliance with VHA Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Program Directive 1611.

Interested vendors must respond by December 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM ET to rachelle.hamer@va.gov with their contact information, business category, relevant contract numbers (GSA/NAC/TAC/SAC), capability statement, SAM UEI number, delivery timeframe, country of manufacture, and OEM/distributor status. The procurement falls under NAICS code 339113 and PSC 6515. The VA notes that standardization of sling type and brand is important for staff education and patient care. SOURCES SOUGHT

Patient Safe Handling & Reposition Slings This is a Sources Sought (SS) Notice only; it is not a Solicitation (i.e., Request for Proposal, Request for Quotation, or Invitation for Bids.), This SS is part of the Government’s market research effort to determine the scope of industry capabilities and interest and will be treated as information only. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responses to this SS are strictly voluntary and the Government will not pay respondents for information provided in response to this SS. Responses to this SS will not be returned and respondents will not be notified of the result of the review. Although responses to the questions posed by the Government would be most beneficial to this market research effort.

The purpose of this SS is to conduct Market Research to determine an acquisition strategy, to include determining if there are a sufficient number of Small Businesses capable of performing the requirements to warrant a set-aside, for the procurement of patient slings at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center (CLE VAMC), 10701 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106.

CLE VAMC is soliciting for a contractor to furnish qty. two hundred and seventy-five (275) standard size (45” X 100”) and qty. twenty-eight (28) Bariatric Size (50” X 100”) Turning & Repositioning Slings. Availability and use of this equipment is required to maintain compliance with and adherence to the VHA Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Program Directive 1611 (07/11/2023), as well as the Medical Center’s Policy on Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (MC 118-034). Standardization of sling type, and brand is important for staff education and patient care; therefore, consideration of procuring the same type/brand of SPHM slings should be done to enhance staff comfort level. Due to patient acuity and/or dependency, these slings are used on a daily basis. Due to the laundry process and normal wear and tear, the units are currently running short on par thus putting patient caregivers at risk for SPHM patient handling injuries.

Potential sources should submit:

Proprietary/Competition Sensitive information (appropriately marked) will be protected from disclosure to the greatest extent practical, however it is preferred that respondents do not provide proprietary or otherwise restricted responses unless they are indicating proprietary technical characteristics.

Vendors are hereby notified that if a competitive solicitation is issued on the Beta SAM website http:// https://sam.gov at a later date, all interested parties must respond to that Solicitation announcement separately from any response to this SS announcement. This SS does not restrict the Government's acquisition approach on a future Solicitation.

No faxes, courier delivered, or telephone inquiries/submissions will be accepted. Responses should be submitted to Rachelle J. Hamer, Contracting Officer at rachelle.hamer@va.gov, by Monday, December, 16, 2024 by 11AM ET.
