Effective Writing in the Federal Government

Preamble: Writing effectively is a skill that takes practice ‐‐ a lot of practice. It is not something that can be learned easily in a four‐day course or even in a year‐long (or longer) class. Nonetheless, there is much that can be gained by listening, exchanging, and exploring the notion of effective writing, and by understanding the parameters of specific types of written communiqués.
