Notice of Intent to Sole Source

Solicitation Number: 75N94023Q00102 Solicitation Type: Sole Source (Non-Competitive) Title: NIAAA Supplies: QuantStudio 3 Real-Time PCR System NAICS / Size Standard: 334516/ 1,000 employees

Introduction

THIS IS A PRE-SOLICITATION NON-COMPETITIVE (NOTICE OF INTENT) SYNOPSIS TO AWARD A PURCHASE ORDER WITHOUT PROVIDING FOR FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION. The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), Office of Acquisitions (OA), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive sole source basis to Life Center Technologies to provide the QuantStudio 3 Real-Time PCR System to the NIAAA.

Background Information

The lab currently has an older real time PCR machine that needs to be replaced in order to conduct ongoing research projects within LBGN. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a powerful technology that amplifies DNA or cDNA targets up to a million-fold. Real-Time PCR amplifies the target in the presence of fluorescent dyes and the instrument captures the fluorescent signal in “real-time” to determine how many copies of DNA are present at each cycle. The ability of the real-time PCR instrument to monitor the amount of target that amplifies over the course of the run enables very precise, sensitive and accurate quantitative measurements to determine the number of starting copies in the reaction.

Purpose and Objectives

Procure a PCR machine to conduct ongoing research projects within the Laboratory of Behavioral and Genomic Neuroscience.

Period of Performance

The anticipated delivery date is 30 days, and the period of performance will be one year from award.
